Dr. Esau McCaulley, Redeemer's 2020 Emerging Public Intellectual Award winner, has published a breaking new book titled Reading While Black: African American Bible Interpretation as an Exercise in Hope. Through it, McCaulley shares the much-needed Black perspectives on biblical interpretation and explains how the practice of Bible reading and ecclesial interpretation is a key tool in the fight for hope and justice. A Hamilton native, Marilyn Gear Pilling is the author of three collections of short fiction, five collections of poetry and a chapbook. Her work has been published in the majority of Canada's top literary magazines, broadcast on the CBC and read in venues around the world. She has also won and/or placed in numerous national contests and previously served as president of the Hamilton Poetry Centre.
