TAKEOVER Hello everyone! I’m Jana and I’ll be taking over studio rats for the day! I’m one of the senior art majors this year and I’m excited to show you a bit of what goes on in the studio as our final show quickly approaches! ... A bit more about me: I’m double majoring in art and theology and majority of my art stems from questions i have about the bible or from personal questions about my faith and lived experiences. I’m the youngest of 6 kids so my house is crazy during the holidays and get togethers. I’m a huge fan of Van Gogh and in my free time you can catch me outside ripping up a game of spikeball! Stay tuned for sneakpeaks of my final show and lots of studio pictures!

Announcing the senior exhibition 2022: EXPOSEl Save the date and tell others around you! This moment is very exciting for the artists let’s have a great turnout! There will be food, music and great art, what’s more to want :) it’s drop in style, so come anytime between 7-9pm on Saturday April 9 Here’s a bit about Jana’s show Rhythms of Divinity Check out her art page for some sneak peeks! @artandsoul.studios ... The trajectory of my final show is an exploration of the characteristics and prominent qualities of the heart of God. When reflecting on the attributes of the human heart and what the Bible says about it, it is described often as deceitful or misleading. We are told to purify our hearts or ask God to turn our hearts of stone into hearts of flesh. This show is an invitation to ask what it means for us to be reflections of God, even our deceitful hearts, when his heart is so different from ours. To ask what it means to combine our human, finite, anatomy with the infinite, divine. Here’s a short statement about Henny’s show DISTORTION My body of work explores the way pornography has distorted and continues to distort love, sex, relationships, body image, and so much more. By using contemporary paintings alongside video segments, my show seeks to shed light specifically on the effects of pornography on teens and young adults. Because of the complexity of this issue, there are larger problems raised such as sex trafficking, rape culture, and normalized abuse. Using sensational and symbolic imagery, the experience is immersive. The ultimate goal of this body of work is to visually expose the harms of pornography without further exploiting its victims.* *DISCLAIMER: this show does not contain any pornographic or erotic images, however, it deals with mature content; viewer discretion is advised. #artistsofhamilton #emergingartists #emergingarthamilton #youngartists #religiousart #socialjusticeart #hamontartists #visualarthamilton #torontoartists #youngartiststo #TOart #TOemergingartist #canadianartists #canadianart

Let’s discuss the way Lindsey Rothrock represents the human body! Some of her works especially those about sexual assault challenge us. Perhaps this work speaks to you, raises questions for you, or even troubles you. Wouldn’t it be fruitful to discuss reactions and interpretations with others? ... Join us Monday March 21, 11:15 to 11:50, in room 112 to explore the issues in this work together. The conversation will be moderated by Professor Irish, and the artist will join us for part of our time together. Also join us by zoom! There is a series of work examining the effects of sexual assault. If you want to avoid this work, it is contained to the west end of the gallery. But my prayer is that this work will help you reflect, and help you have conversations with your friends about this important subject. Even beyond our conscious memory, our bodies hold their trauma. Thanks to @li.rothrock for bringing this powerful work! opening tonight, 5-7 pm! Meet this US artist! #exhibitions #artopening #hamontart #sexualassault #embodiment #christianart #letstalk #contemporaryphotography

Some mood lighting, as Intro Painting crew sets up their monochrome compositions. This space has been organized different ways since COVID. In some ways, I like it better. Less crowded, more flexible space. #studiolife #artschool #hamontart #redeemeruniversity @redeemer_u

See this fleshy painting of bones tonight, at our opening downtown! By Mackenzie Langendoen, it’s called But can they breathe? This is Kenzie’s riff on Ezekiel’s vision of dry bones. Transformation is what it’s about relevant thoughts during these pandemic times! @kenzi.langendoen #painting #contemporaryart #skulls #ezekiel #visionaryart #breathe @redeemer_u #red #hamontart @goldenhorseshoe.art @you.me_gallery

Swipe to experience this winsome piece by @caraytas (Cecilia Salituro). It’s a riff on the church tradition of a triptych three panels that unfold a theme. Her project riffs on the new heaven and earth of Revelation shalom, healing, and the presence of the Spirit. See it in person at our show downtown! #exhibitions #triptych #oilpainting #shalom #revelation #bibleart #hamontart

Here is Theresa, gearing up for Advanced Studio. This cluster of small canvases will explore overlooked moments within a nearby park lichens, and critters, and plants interesting with pathways... The quiet moments add up to a sense of the cosmos - human and non-human together. @art.of.tkornelsen #oilpainting #natureart #artstudio #redeemeruniversity @redeemer_u

George Wastle’s series, exploring his dad’s life. So here is his Dad as a young man, working on the tech end of Christian broadcasting. George was comparing a technical manual to the scriptures so notice the Bible on his work bench. #christianart #fatherandson #biopic #portraitpainting #narrativepainting #100huntley
