SUPPORT INDIGENOUS AUTHORS !!! A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE, IN A KIDS BOOK Erika Yahgujaanas was born and raised in Old Massett on Haida Gwaii. Her family comes... from Xuuts Nee - Grizzly Bear House and she is a member of the Yahgulaanas Raven Clan. Currently residing in Skidegate on Haida Gwaii, Erika is an active member of the community working for the Local Food to School Program, Restorative Justice, and also teaches Xaayda Kil (Haida Language) at a local elementary school. Her passion for Land Based Education and Cultural Revitalization drives her to support these events in the communities of Haida Gwaii. My First Solo, was written to inspire youth to complete their transformative solo nights at Rediscovery Camps. A version of the book in her peoples' language will be available soon. "MY FIRST SOLO" Rediscovery International started in 1978 on the remote shores of the Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwaii, British Columbia, Canada). Challenged by substance abuse, juvenile delinquency, and many painful forms of family disruption, the local Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities set up a dynamic youth project. They began the first Rediscovery camp for local youth at Lepas Bay on the northeast tip of the Islands. One powerful activity Rediscovery facilitates is the solo quest. They differ from camp to camp, but, can be anywhere from 12-24 hours long. Youth participants build their own shelter, find their own food, start their own fire and cook their own meals. A truly unique experience, even cathartic for some. This book is all about Erika’s first solo experience and how it changed her life. **full cover in comments** Available in Paperback and eBook Amazon USA https://www.amazon.com/dp/1729573533 Amazon Canada https://www.amazon.ca/dp/1729573533 Bulk Orders?
