Red Road Lodge AKA The Occidental Hotel 09.01.2021

One of our most active Board members, Roland Vandal, went to Baldur Elementary School and made an inspirational speech to the kids there recently - it obviously impacted them because they sent the Red Road Lodge a generous donation with a beautiful card signed by all the kids who heard Roland speak! What a great gift to receive for our residents in need :)

It's always so great when others take the time to think of the residents at the Red Road Lodge!! This is one of the cards we got (obviously handmade with care) that came along with some hams and loonies and toonies that the kids collected for the residents to buy themselves something nice :) Thanks so much!!!

One of our resident's who came to us in the spring of this year has celebrated a birthday just recently! Ken is a big help around the Lodge and because he is in charge of snow removal and garbage we gifted him with a warm pair of winter boots. He was pretty happy about having pizza and cake for his birthday and can't wait to tell his Dad how proud he is of the work he does here.

Hockey Helps the Homeless fund raising has enabled us to purchase safety panels so that our residents can continue their daily life without worry of getting sick from Covid-19. We also were able to provide masks, sanitizer and other supplies to help fight the potential spreading of the virus. 326 DAYS COVID-19 FREE!!

UPDATE After being missing for a month - with no sightings, Fancy was found on Furby St and her tattoo was read. That's what got her home and the very kind peop...le who brought her in and let us know they had her. HOME safe now and checking everything out. Just as it should be. :) --------------------- MISSING - SEPT 13 NORTH END: Main St at Logan - building backing on Martha St Fancy is an all black, green eyed, 3 year old spayed and tattooed (GB 111) female kitty who lives where her owner works. She's the resident cat, and she's very familiar with the outdoors. Her day consists of playing outside, hunting for mice and visiting with the residents. She comes back inside at meal times and is let back in by various residents at night. On the night she went missing, there was a function going on and lots of people milling around so her family is quite worried. Normally she manages quite well so this is a mystery with no clues at present. Where could Fancy be? If anyone has any information, please message the page. Please check under stairs, sheds, porches and decks and in your sheds and garages if you live in the area. PLEASE SHARE! 2020 WLCA. Comment ONLY if you can get this cat home. Photo permission granted solely to WLCA - share only.

All over the world Indigenous are fighting for their land, their waters, and their lives. Truly another great loss but also a hopeful story that we will never stop fighting for Mother Earth and our People.

In the early morning hours of Monday someone felt the need to break our window where we keep our various art pieces and traditional items on display. Once they broke through the glass they took a leather fringe jacket and a jingle dress which had been handmade and given to The Lodge by a volunteer. Unfortunately we don't have pictures of the items but that person must have needed the items more than us and hopefully they will be put to good use. Now all we have to do is pay for the window.
