Huge congrats to our guy @alexfrasermaraun, who came away with the win in the virtual @redlandsclassic road race this past weekend! With the cancellation or postponement of most road events AFM has been learning the ropes of online racing to keep the legs sharp. He got the opportunity to guest ride with @landistrekeliteteam for this event. While the team was not able to communicate face to face, they used discord to have a prerace chat and had on...e team member giving a steady stream of info to the riders during the race, like a virtual DS! This is how the race unfolded in his words: Coming into the road race, we wanted to mainly follow wheels and perhaps through in some probing attacks, which my teammate Wouter Zwart was indeed able to do. We made it away from the final climb of Box Hill in a reduced group with some of the top North American racers in the peleton, and being chased down by last years winner, Cory Lockwood. In the final, Wouter attacked which allowed me to sit in and launch a late sprint, somehow overhauling Cory Williams. A big thank you to @projectechelonracing for their work In helping to set up this race in conjunction with @redlandsclassic.
