A quick fishing update from the West Coast of Vancouver Island courtesy of our Pro Staff Adrian O'Connor of Reel Obsession Sport Fishing : Esperanza has always ...been known as a very consistent fishery and 2020 has been no different. One exciting part of the Chinook fishing has been the increase in the average size of fish this year. We have seen more Tyees this season than in the last few years combined. The beach has been the place to be the last couple weeks! Fishing at depths of 20-60 feet from the wall at Rosa to Mushroom Point has been producing most fish. The Gibbs Skinny G in Nickel/Blue, No Bananas and Bon Chovy have been our top producing spoons. Small anchovies in Rhys Davis Teaser Heads in UV and Glow Herring aid, and UV Chartreuse (Green) have been working well. Our go to Flashers have been the O’ki Betsy, Gibbs STS and Chartreuse Glow/Silver Highliners. Ling cod has been very good, with the Delta Glow Power Paddle being a top producer.
