Ah, organization. What a huge sigh of relief to have this corner in our house finally organized! I have been wanting to do this for years, but just never had the time. Finally on Sunday, I hit a breaking point and said that’s it! I took everything out of my pantry (swipe left for the before!) and decided to tackle this. I worked a few long days, and a little bleary eyed to show for it - but it is soooo worth it! I’ll do some finishing touches later (drawer trim and pulls, caulking, etc), but for now it’s functional! Does anyone else function like me? Take on massive projects on a whim? There are for sure pros and cons to that personality trait of mine!!

And just like that, she’s 6! Just posing with a chicken, no big deal (funniest thing, this was how I found her sitting as I was setting up the party - just call her the chicken whisperer!) My daughter had her birthday party at my parents @westkelownastables and both her and her friends had a blast! We used my tables and benches @refinedfurniturerentals and the girls loved riding the sweetest horse, Pal. We only made him wear the unicorn horn for half of the party ;)

My daughter turns 6 tomorrow, so we are doing her party with the horses. I decided to add a little something to transform this horse into a unicorn It’s these little things that make life hilarious and fun! What little girl wouldn’t want a unicorn at her birthday?!

We bought this 26’ trailer for a crazy good deal in 2015 and have been slowly updating it bit by bit over the years. It’s an 80s Terry Taurus trailer and it weighs so so much - haha! When we first bought it, my mom and I painted the cabinets and I sewed new cushion covers and put in new valances. Last year the exterior had a major overhaul when I painted it and put on new decals. I also did peel and stick tile in the kitchen. ... This past week, my mom, cousins and I took on painting the walls and put in new flooring. I also did a couple built ins with new wood tops and shiplap. Next I am going to tackle the master bedroom and try to eliminate some of the yellowing plastic pieces and maybe think of a way to update the counter tops. Swipe left for the before photos!! Redoing the interior of a small space is so much work, every update seems to have a domino effect to another thing that needs updating. But I’ve been loving the slow process of watching this trailer transform!

What homeschooling looked like today! I taught the kids how to paint while they earned some money working at the farm

I had a few people ask how I capped off the edges when I tiled over top of my existing tile backsplash. I created an L shape trim using my table saw (you could do this on a router table too), and ran the trim along the edges to conceal the double layer tile I have going on now.

Right before we went into isolation mode, I decided to take on re-tiling my backsplash in my kitchen. It had been bugging me for years how dark my kitchen was. Originally I thought painting the cabinets was the way to go, but then thought switching up the tile might be the better option. I’m so glad I didn’t paint my cabinets, I now love the contrast of the darker cabinets with the white tile! . . . Before I started, I did what any diy’er would do and went to YouTube and asked how do i retile my backsplash? I learned you can go over the existing tile if you first use a special primer. So I applied the primer over the original tile, then tiled right on top! It made it way easier and prevented me from having to replace the drywall that would have ripped out if I were to try taking out the old tile. Swipe for photos of the process!

This has project has been a fun one to do! I custom designed this unit for the feed room in my parents new barn. It has 5 different compartments for different feed and upper cabinets for storage. Next I’m building a countertop for under the window and a shelf for the other side of the wall.

TBT to when I built this massive buffet and hutch! This beauty is 8’ tall and built in two pieces. It was built to fit a specific space in a clients home. I love the herringbone touch with the wine shelves. I’m getting excited for a new summer rental season! We are going to be adding more of these white trestle tables to our inventory, so I’ll be busy building soon. I can’t wait to dust up my saw and get back at it!!

When this girl has a clean room, I need a photo to just capture the rare moment! I’m trying to decide on a storage unit to organize her toys in - right now everything is in bins stacked in her closet. Any suggestions for what works for you?!

If there is something that might give a clue about my personality style, it’s that I often forget to take before photos. I see a project, inspiration hits and off I go. So with that said, here is the after photo of this Shipping and Receiving office at @esporta_wash_systems_inc This room went from cramped and dysfunctional, to open with 16’ of counter space. The countertops are 36 high to make packing and labelling boxes easy on the back. Labels were created to direct shipping companies to the area that has packages ready for pick up. The cabinet was an adjustable shelf with a soft-closing wood drawer. The trash chute has a stain less steel chute for easy cleaning. The entire desk top is a solid wood - sturdy enough to hold the biggest packages.

When I was asked if I would be willing to make 30 boards for the @mamasformamas gala this past weekend, I couldn’t say no! Mamas for Mamas is making waves in the community and this past fundraiser helped them raise $300,000!! That’s a lot of money!! And it all goes back into our community through their Mamas At Risk poverty relief programs Thank you, team at Mamas for Mamas, for the work you do to pour into the lives of mamas here in Kelowna.

Just strolling through the forest, talking about where they are going to move when they turn 25 . . It’s moments like this that make me stop and be grateful. Grateful for healthy kids, that they have great friends and cousins to play with, for this trail we can walk to get to school (minus cougar and bear scares), the leaves that are changing colour, the sun that was shining, my daughters little hand in my hand as I took this photo... what are you grateful for??

Built in! If you were following along my stories the past couple weeks, you would have seen the process it took to build this built in. This is our new TV area in our home. I wanted light, calming colours with the wood contrasting, but not sticking out. I went with a white paint for the majority and a white wash on the alder shelves to create this look.
