"...what would I do at age five or ten? How would I dress? How would I act? Would I be playful? Would I be afraid to talk to people? No. Would I be afraid to tell everyone what I was doing or what I was passionate about? No! So who is that real, authentic self?..." -Jamie King ("The Slay Coach")

Lockdown has been hard. Like, REALLY hard. Everything we know is different; harder. We can't go to the grocery store without being painfully aware of the implications this virus has. More importantly, we can't easily connect with our friends, families, and loved ones in the traditional sense. What if we changed our perspective? In some ways, this pandemic has brought us closer together - there is a communal feeling of empathy; we have been forced to "slow down" our everyday... hustle; and we've had to get creative in how we go about our daily lives. So I challenge you - what if we embraced these things as our new societal values? Use that empathy, time, and creativity to connect with others in ways you may never have thought of before. Video chat with a friend, or maybe greet your neighbour from afar. And most importantly - use that empathy, time, and creativity to go connect with your horse - they will thank you

-- curiosity - a strong desire to know or learn -- We've all been there - we're out with our horse and things aren't going great. They're distracted, "naughty", spooky - anything but focused and connected. And what happens? We get frustrated! What if you changed your perspective? You get curious rather than upset - you try and figure out WHY your horse is so distracted and disconnected?... Perspective is everything, and becoming curious is when the magic happens! So relax, and laugh about it! #motivationmonday #mantramonday #curiosity #horsemanship #naturalhorsemanship #reflectionequine

#motivationmonday I create my own positive energy I'll be honest - I've struggled with creating any energy whatsoever for a few weeks. Along with the weather change came my desire to sit on the sofa, wrapped in a blanket, eating nothing but carbs. Sloooowly, I've started adding things back into my routine that motivate me. Watching horsemanship videos while I get to stay snuggled in my blanket? Check! Writing this post from my sofa? Check! Kicking the dog outside so I am not ...tempted to snuggle all day? ... maybe not yet. My point is - start with small things and build your way up to creating positive energy - just stay mindful of how much the little things count! #mantramonday #positiveenergy #positivity #itsthelittlethingsinlife #horsemanship #naturalhorsemanship #reflectionequine

-- empowerment - the process of becoming stronger and more confident -- If you've been following me for a while, you know that to me, horsemanship is a form of empowerment for both you and your horse. Horsemanship is a journey that strengthens your bond, your communication, and your overall relationship. Your horse looks to you as their leader. If you show up as your best self, your horse will give you their best self. You may not be able to every day (we are only human!), b...ut it is certainly something we can strive for! Your horse will thank you #motivationmonday #mantramonday #horsemanship #naturalhorsemanship #reflectionequine

Happy horses are healthy horses, and vice versa! My horses live in a herd and get as much field turnout as possible. I highly recommend it if it's a possibility for you and your horses
