The Story Behind the Image....4 of 4. . This was the final image of my submission & the one closest to my heart. . It scored an EXCELLENCE, won BEST PORTRAIT & earned a JUDGES CHOICE Award from our regional competition with the a Professional Photographers of Canada @ppoc_mb.... . This storytelling image came to me in a dream during the first Covid lockdown. (Swipe to see the sketch) Like so many artists who were facing such uncertainty I had spent many days wondering if I was going to have to close my studio? Move it back to my home? . Tears were a daily occurrence & rather than binge-watching Netflix I started watching old home movies of my kids. I forgot how little they were from the giggles, the spontaneous songs to hilarious dance routines.... I was reminded what my crazy life was like...just a few years ago. There in the middle of my screen was my youngest daughter, telling me about her 4 year old day.... holding her beloved stuffed bunny & twirling her blonde hair. That night, I had a dream that inspired this image called, Clinging to Youth. Thank you @marlenefast for naming this piece. It was designed & photographed specifically for competition but now has become one of my proudest motherly moments. My daughter sat with me, holding my hand as we listened to the judges score it an excellence. There is no better feeling than the pride & love of my children @jocelyne_hebert . #reflectionsbyjocelyne #portraitartist #fineartportrait #legacyportrait #printartist #beautifulchildren #oakbankphotographer #ppocmb #winnipegphotographer #studioportrait #tween #clingingtoyouth See more

The Story Behind the Image... 3 of 4. . This beautiful family Portrait is the only piece of my submission that was not specifically planned for competition. . I was hired by this wonderful family to come to their cabin in Gimli, Manitoba to capture their favourite spot on the beach.... . It was titled, Our Beach where Memories were Made. It scored a Merit in our regional competition @ppoc_mb . I loved the tone of this image but also as a mother, I felt a connection to it. How many summers did I have watching my own girls playing along the shoreline, collecting seashells & building sand castles? At the time I thought these moments would last forever... but they didn’t. I will hold onto those memories forever as my girls are teenagers now & don’t need me to hold their hand anymore as we dip our toes in the waves. . This family has watched their 4 girls grow into smart, elegant & wonderful young woman... all while enjoying their summers together at their favourite beach. . This was an August evening in 2018 when Alberta forest fires created a haze over our skies which added such softness to their portrait. It was calm, serene & filled my heart with joy as I knew these parents would cherish this moment forever. @jocelyne_hebert . #beachportraits #pasteltones #familyportraitonthebeach #whitewardrobe #reflectionsbyjocelyne #portraitartist #fineartportrait #legacyportrait #printartist #oakbankphotographer #ppocmb #winnipegphotographer #studioportrait #theloveoffamily See more

The Story Behind the Image...1 of 4. . This image was titled Noelle & scored a Merit in both the Regional & National Competition with the Professional Photographers of Canada (www.ppoc.ca) @ppoc_national @ppoc_mb .... It won BEST CHILD PORTAIT at our Manitoba Gala last weekend. . The Story.... This image was shot specifically for competition just over a year ago. I was inspired when I received this beautiful vintage-style Christmas dress from a photographer mentor/friend who told me that she believed I could create some magic with this dress. I knew exactly who I wanted to wear it.... this adorable model! She was 4 years old (and her name is NOT Noelle) & I have known her & her beautiful family since she was growing inside her momma’s belly. I approached her with my idea.... she wasn’t keen on wearing the dress at first but she loved the idea of helping me. Together we struck a deal!! For a box of NERDS candy she would me by model... plus she would prefer to arrive to my studio in her pyjamas lol! . The final accent of this piece was designed by Holly @stemsandroses who created her floral bouquet of rose hips which complimented her dress perfectly. . In order to achieve this innocent feel I needed her to hold something. She was only 4 years old & these flowers were the perfect choice. No pointy pieces & no distractions. . This is one of my favourite images because I love the magic of Christmas & the beauty that we see in the eyes of a child when they tell me what they are wishing for from Santa. I loved my childhood & especially the moments I shared sitting at our dinner table with family & friends. . Thank you @sandyprobizanski @stemsandroses @carmen_matthews for inspiring me to create this award-winning piece! . #manitobaphotographeroftheyear #portraitartist #noelle #bestchildportrait #awardwinningimage #childportrait #christmasportraits #oakbankphotographer #fineartportrait See more

With every portrait comes the story behind the inspiration. . The design process & how communication with your client is so important. I’m so excited to share each story starting on Monday. .... From the image that scored Best Portrait to a family that continues to fill my heart with joy. . This year was an experience that I’ll never forget. During the first lockdown I was sitting at our kitchen table crying because I didn’t know if I was going to lose my portrait studio, I wasn’t legally allowed to photograph anyone outside my household & I felt very isolated. . During this time I began connecting with other local artists & was surrounded by our loving community. . Throughout this experience I realized just how important our local small businesses are & I’m beyond proud to be amongst them. . To my beautiful friends, thank you.... @stemsandroses @shearmadnesshair @danbellascaninegrooming @springfieldchamberofcommerce @bestversionmedia #thestorybehindtheimage #storytellingportrait #portraitartist #oakbankphotographer #manitobaphotographer #designprocess #shareyourart #creatingalegacy #reflectionsbyjocelyne
