Kids experiencing social isolation, bullying and difficult home situations (financial struggles, separation, loss of a parent) are more prone to conflict at home and at school. Discord can leave kids feeling misjudged, diminished or overly entitled in places that should be sanctuaries of respect and learning. They may act out loudly or hide out in silence, but neither way gets them what they want, and most importantly, what they need. #ReflectiveMediation #Bullying #Mediation #Communication #DisputeResolution #Negotiation #Consultation #TorontoMediator

"I wrote The Yoga of Divorce in the hope of helping others by showing them how to resolve tension with their partner by resolving it first within themselves through the practice of yoga. This book advocates that we shift our reactions and embrace the notion of cooperative opposition, the idea that the same non-adversarial process that works on the yoga mat can be used at the negotiation table."- Mike MacConnell To purchase visit: https://www.reflectivemediation.ca/yoga/the-yoga-of-divorce #ReflectiveMediation #MikeMacConnell #TheYogaOfDivorce #Disputes #ConflictResolution #Mediator #FamilyMediator #FamilyMediation #TorontoMediator

Mediation can be used to resolve any kind of dispute. But it can only be successful when there is a mutual desire, and an honest willingness to resolve the dispute by respectfully listening to each persons perspective. Therefore, mediation isnt the right method for everyone, especially in situations where there is a power imbalance, abuse or psychological factors that prohibit one or both parties from engaging in a constructive dialogue. In such cases, it may be more appropriate to take more adversarial approach, negotiated through lawyers, where decision-making authority is vested in an arbitrator of judge. #ReflectiveMediation #Divorce #Mediation #Communication #Marriage #DisputeResolution #Negotiation

Now on sale, The Yoga of Divorce offers practical strategies for shifting our reactions and embrace the notion of cooperative opposition, the idea that the same non-adversarial process that works on the yoga mat can be used at the negotiation table. The key to Yoga of Divorces strategy is to 'park ego at the door'. If we stop trying to 'win' but instead seek a solution that is fair to both sides, we make much smoother progress. The mindful practice of cooperative opposition ...can simultaneously resolve physical stress and social conflict by intentionally balancing opposite forces. It might seem simple, but it takes conscious effort. We urgently need to make calm decisions at those times when being calm is most difficultsuch as in the midst of emotional crisis. When stakes are highest we feel most triggered to attack. For the sake of our children, our wealth, and our personal well-being, we need to work past negative emotions and put ego in its place. Only then will we find lasting peace and amicable resolutions.
