I have been obsessed with vegan (maybe 10% vegetarian) cooking for some years now. More so for health benifits but also to practice compassion for the earth and all living beings. Today was a big cook up with kitchari for the week (varying recipes online, cleansing Ayurvedic dish) a layered dip (refried beans, taco flavoured vegan yogurt layer, guacamole layer (cilantro and lime), tons of onion and other veg on top eaten with organic nacho chips. Then a yummy protein peanut butter square. #ayurveda #vegan #vegetarian #organic #wholefoodnutrition

Conflict is not always what it seems... (-an excerpt from my new book, ‘Hearticulations’)

One area of my thinking I like to work on and challenge often is little judgements of others. Since I was a young teen one way I learned to cope with pain was noticing what I perceive to be unusual or different (than myself and peers) ways of dress, ways of behaving, basically anything weird and mock it in my head or with another friend. I’ve come a long way from that behaviour (which honesly does more damage with karmic consequences and feeling like an unkind person). One ...thing that has helped is forcing myself to be open to every single person’s beauty and seeing just how real and not hiding behind masks all of the unique people I avoided are. I feel often now I can throw out a bid for connection to random strangers and be highly rewarded with what I learn from them. Being an empath I often sense when there is an off energy I want to avoid, but realize now I need to not be afraid of risking connection as the benefits are great and are shaping me into a better human being. I have less and less to be afraid of, and assumptions are often wrong. Intuition but also courage are paramount when we are ready to break free from the chains of exclusivity and materialism, and walk our path fearlessly. See more

Yin is an especially great practice to learn to quiet the mind, surrender, and accept. Therefore a superb foundation for those recovering from addiction and grief. I love the joy of living explanation of meditating on emptiness being actually just limitless possibilities; our conception of everything is totally contextual meaning it may have many more possibilities of being that what we decide it is, and so our perception of things can absolutely be changed with time and working on it relieving so much of what we think is a bad experience. it is freedom!
