We're so excited to be co-presenting Dark City Beneath the Beat with Inside Out LGBT Film Festival! Marketed as an audiovisual experience, Dark City Beneath the Beat explores Baltimore club culture through profiles of the city’s rising DJs, dancers, producers, and artists. The musical odyssey kicks off with a vivid assortment of local club icons whose collective dream is to use their art for the betterment of the community. Baltimore’s culture landscape and social climate ...are the inspiration for many of the film’s imaginative segments. Each artist is given a turn to show off their skills, which range from beat production to intense dance choreography. While the film does not shy away from addressing Baltimore’s clash with drugs and violence, the artistic montages leaves an impression of hope during uncertain times. Vivimos Juntxs, Comemos Juntxs (VJCJ) and the Toronto Queer Film Festival are collaborating in the launch of Food Knows No Borders: Food Box Delivery Program! Over the last several months, we have heard from our communities that accessing food is one of the main issues people are struggling with during this pandemic. As a way to address this issue, we are excited to announce a new food box project that will run until the end of November 2020! Our goal is to provide 200 individuals/families with 5 food boxes overall, every two weeks until November 30th. We will be sending you a survey every two weeks to complete, and you can opt-out at any time. This program is open to all undocumented, Indigenous, and queer/trans/2 Spirit people in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). To sign up for deliveries, check out: https://bit.ly/3nhslBJ

Today is #OrangeShirtDay, a chance to honour and remember the generations of children who were forced to attend residential schools and the many who died while there. It’s estimated that 150,000 Indigenous children were placed in residential schools across Canada over the course of 100 years. Indigenous children still face many challenges. While the last residential school in Canada closed in 1996, Indigenous children represent 52.2% of children in foster care but make up onl...y 7.7% of Canada’s overall child population. How are you raising awareness in your community today? Visit orangeshirtday.org/ for more information! #everychildmatters

We are excited to co-present the opening night film Between Heaven and Earth with The Toronto Palestine Film Festival happening online between September 23-29, 2020. Audiences around the world can enjoy this festival with film screenings, music and dance performances, a visual art showcase, panels, exclusive merchandise and more! Some info about the film: Inspired by several historical events, Najwa Najjar’s third film is a modern-day road-trip drama. Nazarethborn Salma and ...Tamer, the son of a revolutionary killed in Beirut, have decided to divorce after five years of marriage in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. For the first time, Tamer is given a three day permit to cross the Israeli checkpoint to file for divorce in the courts of Nazareth. However, things do not go as planned when the court’s clerk refuses to process the divorce after he confronts them with a secret about Tamer's father's past - an affair with an Iraqi Jewish woman in the 1950s. With only 72 hours to find the father's lover to get the documents needed to finalize the divorce before Tamer's permit expires, the couple sets out on a journey that takes them between the present and the past. In a shared effort to increase awareness for displaced event workers due to the pandemic, major arts organizations across Canada will be participating in a day of visibility on Tuesday September 22nd. Event venues across Canada will be lit with red lights to create a visual display of the reach and impact of events workers. Light Up Live are asking venues and landmarks across the country to light red on 22 September to light up these dark theatres and concert halls, convention centres and festival grounds. We are also calling on the live event community many of whom work in the backstage hallways and tiny offices crammed behind the ballrooms and stages to stand up and be seen.
