What a great day! Big thanks to Mandy Abraham from Equi-Health Canada Safety Training for sharing a wealth of information on safe trailering practices. We learned a ton of practical but often overlooked information, explored the functionality and safety risks of our trailers, had some hands on practice with bandaging and tying, and even got to ride around in the back of a trailer! Thanks to everyone who came out and to Bridlewood Farms for allowing us to use your space.

Bridlewood Farms is hosting a raffle for Trooper! Please read below The story of Trooper: This little 4 day old colt was found in a field fighting for his life,... suffering from severe dehydration and infection from being attacked by a large animal. It was very clear that he was not going to make it if he was left for another night as he could barely walk and keep up with the rest of the herd of horses. We all came together and decided we needed to save this little guy, with the permission of the owner we rescued him from the field and took him to Bridlewood Farms where many people were waiting to work on him and fight to save him, we got him milk and water, blankets to help with the shock, and cleaned out his wounds as best we could until a vet arrived. Once the vet got there it wasn’t the best news, we were told he had a lot of strikes against him but we weren’t going to give up that easily, we stayed at the barn 24/7 waking up every hour to feed him, people took shifts to look after him, and it took a whole team to clean out his wounds but we all came together. Trooper was doing so well, he was eating, drinking, walking around like a champ, he was definitely a barn favourite and stole everyone’s heart. Unfortunately, when we had a follow up with the vet, it was heartbreaking news that the infection had travelled into his bone and Trooper didn’t have a fighting chance to thrive. We spent all night with him, making sure he was comfortable with a full belly. The morning of July 15th will be a day none of us forget.. filled with so much love, tears, laughs from Troopers huge personality, we gave him so many treats and he got to spend his last hours in the sunshine, the vet showed up and our hearts sank knowing what was coming in the next minutes. We had to say goodbye to the colt that brought us together as a team, who taught us so much in such a short time, who taught us about ourselves as individuals, he stole the show, everyone was in love over such a small time frame. He came into our lives for a reason and we will never forget this experience. Rest In Peace little Trooper, love the Bridlewood team. We are selling 100 tickets for 2 raffle baskets for $25.00/each to raise funds for Trooper’s vet bills. Any excess funds will go to Happy Little Hooves Horse and Donkey Rescue.
