Regina Little Theatre 25.02.2021

It is with sadness at her passing and appreciation for her considerable service and support that Regina Little Theatre acknowledges the death on Monday, February 1, 2021 of Jacqui Shumiatcher. Jacqui's participation in RLT began back in the 1950s, serving as a volunteer in many capacities. In addition to undertaking duties on the board of directors and leading the Ladies Auxiliary that operated then, she and her husband Morris frequently opened their home for official gatheri...ngs such as drama festivals. Not one to shy away from the tedious or mundane, Jacqui was constantly involved in the many small-scale fundraisers and publicity events that were necessary in those days to keep RLT afloat, often bringing refreshments to her fellow volunteers. Jacqui was renowned in her later years for philanthropic activity, especially for her support of a full range of artistic endeavours: theatrical, visual and musical. Regina Little Theatre was one of the many organizations she generously assisted and we were privileged to acknowledge that with an honourary lifetime membership in 2007. We were further honoured to see her in the audience on a regular basis for many years beyond that. Regina Little Theatre joins the many institutions and individuals who were the recipients of her generous spirit in saluting Jacqui Shumiatcher.

It is with great sadness that we must announce the sudden passing of long time member and volunteer Pam McMartin. Pam began her involvement with theatre in 1978 volunteering with Regina Little Theatre, Regina Lyric Light Opera Society, Regina Summer Stage, and on IODE productions. She was only on stage a couple of times (one appearance being The Medicine Man in 1980), preferring to offer her talents backstage. Pam assisted in every capacity from props, stage management, board member and eventually serving as RLT President. Pam was presented the Honorary Life Member award for her outstanding dedication to Regina Little Theatre and will be sincerely missed by all who knew and worked with her. Friends and fans of the Regina Little Theatre community; For 94 seasons we have been a community minded, all volunteer organization that has never canceled a show. We are sad to announce the following changes to our season due to the outbreak and concern of COVID-19: ... We have made the decision to move our April show, Helium, to early summer - pending venue decisions and recommendations of the city, province, and Health Canada. We are canceling our Spring Cabaret (Five short plays) and The Mouse That Roared. We are canceling our March workshop and all following workshops until further notice. For our season ticket holders, when you renew your 2020/21 season tickets, you will be provided an additional voucher to cover the value of this season’s canceled show, to be used at the show of your choice next season. These decisions were made because we value our community and their safety based on critical information and guidelines provided by the governments of Saskatchewan and Canada. Be safe, be well, and when we come out of the other end of this, we hope you will continue to support the arts.
