RMC celebrates Diwali(Deepavali) with our Hindu, Jain and Sikh friends and community partners. It is the festival of lights celebrated every year in India and around the world. It symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Let’s light up some diyas (traditional earthen pots or lamps) to brighten our lives with new hopes, new dreams and memories this Diwali. Have a happy, safe and blessed Diwali!... #Diwali2020 #reginamulticulturalcouncil

At RMC, we always remember...that today is a meaningful day for all of us, it is the day we take a moment to remember all of the men and women who have served our country. Remembrance Day commemorates the sacrifices of people in all armed conflicts. It is always observed on November 11th to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918 and honor the veterans of both World Wars. It is officially called Remembrance Day, but it is also known as Armistice Day and Poppy Day.... Did you know? The use of poppies is a symbol of remembrance comes from a poem written by John McCrae, a Canadian doctor served in the military. The poem is called In Flanders Fieldsand describes the poppies growing in the Flemish graveyards where soldiers were buried. Red poppies symbolize the memory of the fallen soldiers and white poppies campaign for non-military interventions in conflict situations.

The Regina Multicultural Council wishes our member groups, volunteers, community partners, families, and friends a very Happy Thanksgiving! We are always grateful for your best effort, countless hours and continued support for the organization. We are also thankful for the commitment of all those who are contributing to the health, safety and wellbeing of our community. We celebrate Thanksgiving this year with new challenges and opportunities for maintaining connections with family and friends. And as we strive to give thanks in all circumstances, we still need to keep our safety and health in mind or be reminded at all times that we need to do our part in following all provincial health guidelines.

September 7th marks Labour Day, one of the most important days on the workers’ calendar. This year we celebrate it differently. With the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, it has revealed the critical value of front-line and essential workers. Healthcare workers, cleaners, grocery store staff, delivery drivers and many more continue working through the height of the pandemic, ensuring everyone would have access to basic amenities and services. That is the reason why this year’s Labo...ur Day, we not only recognize workers’ essential contributions during the pandemic, but also our commitment to a plan to move forward together and come out of this crisis even stronger. Happy Labour Day!
