We are happy to announce that we have a new food rescue Initiative! Volunteers will be transporting Good Food Boxes which offer fresh fruits and vegetables at affordable prices through collective purchasing. Good Food Boxes help to support socially and economically sustainable neighbourhoods by making healthy foods accessible! The food rescue is from the Glen Cairn Community Resource Centre to the Northwest London Resource Centre for the mornings on the last Wednesday of each month. If you are interested in volunteering with ReHarvest, please email us at [email protected]

ReHarvest is proud to support Atl'ohsa-Zhaawanong Shelter with our weekly food deliveries. Shelters like Atl'ohsa-Zhaawanong rely on non-profit organizations since funding is often minimal. Many women and children who come to the shelter lack food security and having access to food is not always available. Every week they utilize our donations for group programming, children school lunches, breakfasts and dinners. Because we provide a reliable donations every week, the shelte...r is able to schedule meal plans around what is donated which decreases their grocery bill each week. The ReHarvest team would like to thank each and every one of our partners and our volunteers for helping to make a difference in the London community! We would also like to thank The Old East Village Grocer for their weekly donations and continuous support to Atl'ohsa-Zhaawanong!

Green Prosperity is a joint effort of Ontario's leading environmental organizations calling for the implementation of an independent Environmental Commissioner of Ontario following the elimination of the role by the Ford government. For over 25 years, Ontario citizens have benefited from having an ECO to hold governments accountable for their decisions and efforts in protecting the Canadian environment. Eliminating the ECO role is contrary to environmental protection objectives. Green Prosperity has created an petition to bring back the ECO role for Ontario citizens. Sign the petition here: http://www.greenprosperity.ca/eco/

On Friday November 23rd, there will be a panel discussing the current barriers to composting in London with local and university representatives in the field of waste management. Although there are various environmental initiatives in London, there is still a lack of compost bins for residents and the community. This is a great way to speak out and learn more about food waste and environmental issues in London!
