I just found this on my Facebook Memories. My mother had made me a shadow box for my birthday. In this box is one of her favourite pictures of her Dingbat, a ring my father gave my mother, a congratulatory message as I was born on the centennial of British Columbia. This is why I love what I do. I bring you back to a time and place that makes you smile, makes you remember grandma cooking, or makes you think of good times you shared with loved ones. In our family food meant l...ove. My Nana would prepare delicious holiday dinners for over 50 people, we came from a big family. The kitchen area is the most important part of my booth because of this. Right now our family can’t be physically together but the memories of so many wonderful holidays will be in my heart and mind this month. A few times a year I get asked for these, but never have I seen one this old. Cast iron, made in Czechoslovakia by a brand called Kosmos in 1910s to 20s, this is a poppy seed grinder. Fully adjustable to your liking. This has removable brass fittings, this is not the usual design. Mounts to countertop or table. I have also been told people are using these to grind flax seed. The nutritional properties of flax are released when ground. I love the antique look of the paint! For... you poppy seed roll bakers this is the ultimate kitchen tool. Maybe you are of the generation (like me) that remembers taking Computer Science on a Commodore 64. Well, I certainly had trouble finding this typewriter online. Commodore began as an adding machine company in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Later they imported typewriters from Czechoslovakia until the early 60s when they started making their own in West Germany. This is likely an earlier piece in 1958 due to the hammered metal paint and green keys. Boy do I love green keys. So int...eresting how this company rolled with the times and later started a computer company. They weren’t afraid to change and pivot with the times. More famous for their computers, it is hardly known they made typewriters. This is a rare piece and quite beautiful too. The white space in the bottom were meant for a stamp of the apiary name and community. Canadian honey is considered the finest in the world.
