Remember when the Wynne government said foreign buyers made up 5-10% of the market and were driving home prices up? Realtors said it was supply & demand and foreign buyers (representing less than 2% of the market) had nothing to do with the price appreciation. Then the Wynne Government proceeded to impose a 15% foreign buyer tax to stop the madness and make home ownership affordable again. People cheered. The government pounded their chests. How’s that working out for ...them? Well, now foreign buyers can’t even come here and prices are still going up. Why? Supply & demand. It’s simple economics. Realtor were right! An increase in supply is what will bring affordability back. We need more product. The government can help by speeding up building permits and encouraging new builds to satisfy the demand out there. Once there is adequate supply to meet demand, prices will stabilize. See more

The recovery is complete! After a torrid start to 2020, the Toronto Housing Market went into quite the funk as we paused for the Covid-19 Pandemic Lockdowns. The first quarter showed promises of 2020 being a record breaking year in Toronto Real Estate.
