This piece was nearly completed at the end of October and then I got sick with Covid. Thankfully my symptoms were only moderate, but recovery has been a long and slow process. I still 'crash' everyday in the late afternoon, get random headaches and my sense of smell is still AWOL. By the end of November I had enough energy and focus (brain fog was terrible) to finally get back to my easel. My 5 year old granddaughter, Lilah Joan is the subject of this piece. She has become my... muse of late. Lilah is remarkably expressive and incredibly bright. When I asked her what a good title might be, without missing a beat she said "Blackberry Gobbler!" Lilah lives in Victoria and I miss her terribly. Working on this piece has at least made me feel as if we were together everyday.
