My spring greens are getting a little tough and tattered after a month or so of harvesting, and this hot weather is causing the arugula to bolt. Time for a seasonal overhaul! The pea shoots are removed except for a few plants in the back, which will grow on to fruit. The roquette is removed to make more room for the emerging chard, and I've sown a little bit of lettuce mix and radish in the open area for a little midsummer salad. Unless we make the effort and choose to buy ethically produced food and clothing, the reality is that every single time we sit down to a meal or get dressed in the morning we unconsciously train ourselves to accept racism as normal and justified.
