Linden Gallerneault from our summer sessions program is trying out for an elite spring team in Saskatchewan called U13 Silver Knights. 3 years ago he was playing tier 5 and to now playing tier 2 this year and is now trying out with players who played mostly AA and AAA peewee. We love to see and hear improvements in Lindens game. We can’t wait to keep working with him and see where his hockey future will take him. Keep going Linden! Ryan Gallerneault

Quick video from our last session on the 22nd. As you can see we have the drills posted on the wall before each session. Introducing that preparation to them early. We want the boys to be prepared as much as possible on the ice and not asking (what are we doing?) or (where do I go?) it’s so important to be prepared before you go on the ice no matter what level you’re playing. Visualizing what you’re going to do on the ice. Even if it’s just practice you still gotta prepare th...e same way cause that’s where you’re spending the most time. We preach good habits. We wish we had something like this back in the day for our development. But this is why we’re doing it we want the boys that come to have a step on the competition. They’re learning so much. We explain the drills again when we are out there and than we got into working on edges and stick handling, but doing it with speed. Game has got so fast that you have to be ready to make a move in a matter of seconds. You gotta create space for yourself. We’re trying to get the boys confidence sky high to pull off a deke or a move to create space for themselves for game situations to take to the net or find someone open. Having fun and smiling through the bs is the difference from playing this game for a long time or quitting cause of coaches or just not having fun anymore. We encourage the boys to have fun with it so if that means cellys after a goal than so be it. We don’t want guys falling out of love with the game. Ya gotta have fun and enjoy the game we are so blessed to play. Never stop learning. -MD See more

That’s a wrap on our summer program!!! So glad to have my brother come out today for our last session and help/talk to the kids. This was always our dream to give back to the indigenous youth and develop them. I’m beyond blessed to be doing this with my brother as he’s battling his fight with cancer. @michael.desj you motivated the boys today and they’re all excited to start working with you!! thank you to all the boys and parents who came out, we appreciate it more then you know. Looking forward to the next sessions & new players. #repetition #indigenous #hockeydevelopment #alwayslearning

Great 2 puck handling drill for working on your handles, adding a give & go pass, creating speed into your pass so you have speed when you receive it, making it harder to defend, & then taking it to the net. The boys are having fun today!!! #repetition #wannabethebestputinthereps #hockeydevelopment #indigenous

Today we focused on inside and outside edges getting used to handling while being on one foot for various game like situations. Key points to focus on: keeping your head up, feel your edges every stride and pushing hard off so you’re creating momentum gradually as you go, keeping your body centred. CREATE GOOD HABITS. #repetition #hockeytraining #indigenous
