Let’s address the address question Yesterday I put out a pop quiz on my Instagram story asking if you thought you should include your address on your resume. 75% of those who answered said no, you shouldn’t... Unless you have real concerns regarding your privacy (application website seems dodgy or unsecure), then you should always include your address. It was a few years back where people stopped including it and it put up a bit of a radar / red flag on candidate's applications when recruiters complete resume screens. Here’s the thing, recruiters review hundreds of resumes and often they are looking for candidates who are local and can be available for an in-person interview (pre Covid) immediately. Although things have changed slightly with interviews mostly being done online now, the expectation is still there even for remote local jobs. Note that recruiters and hiring managers receive resumes from job seekers around the globe looking for jobs. By not including your address on your resume, a recruiter or hiring manager might assume: 1. That you are not local and available in-person immediately 2. That you will have commuting issues 3. That you might not have appropriate work visas/ papers to work in the country in which they are hiring 4. That you might be looking for relocation or sponsorship assistance Now, in saying that, if they can see that you attended a local school (university/college/high school) and you have listed your previous employers city/province/state, then they will likely look past the points I mentioned above and come to their own conclusion. But there is a chance that they might not. So, if you decide to leave your address off of your resume for privacy issues, then ensure that it is obvious that you are local so that your application doesn’t get discarded.

because it will definitely make things uncomfortable... I am sure that every interview tip you have come across states that you should ask questions at the end of a job interview... EEEK.... ensure you ask intuitive questions not these ones! ... 1. Did I get the job? When you ask did I get the job, it can put the interviewer in an awkward position. Unless they definitely know that you are not a fit for the role, they may need time to consider your interview for various reasons. And let’s face it, if they said NO to you right away, what would happen next? Crickets? Would you try to resell yourself? Awkward, right? Instead ask Is there a timeframe that has been determined to let candidates know if they are successful or not? Should I be a successful candidate, what are the next steps of the recruitment process? 2. How did I do? Giving feedback to candidates is a sensitive topic to which an interviewer will tread lightly. Better yet, there may be company processes or policies in place whereby feedback can only be given by Recruiters or an HR Department after the interview process has wrapped up. If you phrase the question as how did I do? the answer you will likely get is good. You won’t be told that you were amazing, even if your interview was fantastic. On the flip side, if you blew the interview, they likely won’t expose why. If we take a step back and look at the underlying request for feedback by asking how you did, there is a time and place just not in such words as how did I do. And not during the interview. Instead ask Regardless of whether I am selected for this position, at a later date would you be able to provide me with feedback of my interview?
