We are excited to say that our RES Healthy Snack Fridge (HSF) Program is now going on 6 years running. This special program is run by the Raymond Elementary School Council (parent volunteers). It’s only made possible with the help of volunteers and monetary donations. This year will be a bit different in that the snacks will be delivered into each class room so that if any student in that cohort needs a little extra it will be available to them. These nutritious snacks will i...nclude fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy trail mix options, and grains (all individually prepackaged with gluten free options available as well). The Purpose of the Healthy Snack Fridge *To help teach all students about healthy snack choices *To provide/supplement extra healthy snacks if needed (especially during times when the students are more active i.e. skating, marathon club training, and swimming) *To help our students’ minds be ready and alert to learning * to possibly try new things With over 700 students at the RES we try to have at least 700 snacks provided for the school week. This can only happen because of generous donations from those around our great town. In the past it has cost around $200/week to keep stocked, with inflation and new protocols to follow with AHS guidelines, we are finding that the produce we purchase is costing more than last year. This means that it costs more like $250/week to keep the program running. If you are willing and able to help us out by sending a donation, for this school year, we’d be ever so grateful. Please note: if writing a cheque and want a tax receipt, please make it out to WESTWIND SCHOOL DIVISION #74 and include RES Healthy Snack Fridge on the subject line. IF you DO NOT want a tax receipt, please make cheques out to RES Parent Council and include RES Healthy Snack Fridge on the subject line OR you can etransfer your donation to [email protected] See more
