Here is a 2013 Mac Air that was looked at by Apple service. They told the customer it was "water damaged" and would take $700+ dollars to fix (we fixed it for 80$ :p ). Funny story... Apple never actually took the time to open the laptop. None of the laptop water sensors were tripped. In fact, it was one of the cleanest Mac Air motherboards we have seen in a while. It takes 30 seconds... By the way we "fixed" the laptop by... get this RECONNECTING THE CLIENTS BATTERY CABLE. Remember - Microsoft does not send out emails notifying you of software updates. Even if they did, you should know by now that you shouldn't install anything someone sends you by email. We posted this last year, and people are still falling for online support scams. How the scam works is someone claiming to be from Microsoft or Apple initiates contact via phone, email, text message or a website popup. They then proceed to tell you that something is wrong with your computer, and that they require access to check it out. Once in they can lock you out of your computer, steal your personal information, gain your credit card number and try to access your bank ...account information. Technical Support scammers can be very convincing. Whatever they tell you it is important to never give anyone remote access to your computer unless you are 100% certain of who they are.
