The Red Dress Day movement was inspired by The REDress Project by Jaime Black. Jaime is a multidisciplinary Anishinaabe and Finnish Métis artist. The hanging r...ed dresses represent the absence, pain, and loss felt by families, Survivors, and communities of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. On Red Dress Day, the hanging empty red dresses are a way of honouring the spirits of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people and their loved ones. Let’s all reflect on what each of us can do to help end this national tragedy.
