Kids in Winnipeg - and elsewhere- in the 1960s didn't shout "Trick or Treat" at doorsteps on Halloween; we chanted for "Halloween Apples!" This was apparently a Prairie phenomenon, and not even everywhere on the Prairies. My own parents grew up in Saskatchewan in the Depression, and certainly appreciated that fresh fruit was a genuine treat. Maybe that's where it comes from? This survey intends to follow how veterans' and their spouses' mental health is being affected by the pandemic. Respect spoke with Dr. Don Richardson in London, Ontario, who is leading the project. To Lakeland Co-op for coming and proving support for this event with your amazing volunteers; to all of the LCU volunteers who are taking their time to make sure these events go smoothly - you all go over and above every time we host something and its very appreciated! It's National Newspaper Carriers day in the US. What the heck, that goes for us too. Our own paperboy isn't doing any deliveries today, but he's hard at work assembling stories for next Tuesday's paper (he's also our editor!). You don't have to be a senior to read Respect! We cover stories of particular interest to older readers, but "senior citizens" are both seniors and citizens - many of our stories are about things that everybody, including seniors, finds important.
