With our season in full swing, the Comets would like to thank all our volunteer coaches: Darren Oakes, Jérémy Martin, and Courtney Charlong for delivering our programs in the new ‘normal’ way of doing things. We appreciate all your hard work and your dedication. A special thanks to Courtney, who at 14 years old, took on the role of full-time coach for the Intro to speed skating group. With her own ice time reduced to 1 hr/week this season and her hopes of representing NB at t...he Canada Youth Championships being crushed again due to Covid, she has taken her knowledge and her drive to skate to another level with this coaching position. She makes up her own weekly programs based on the Cutting Edge Pin Program requirements and her experience as a high performance skater. Every Sunday, she steps onto the ice with a mask, a smile (which you can see in her eyes), her clipboard, and her Bingo dabber to draw Xs on the ice, to allow 6 young skaters the chance to skate and have fun in a safe environment. Courtney exceeded our expectations by providing a fun learning experience for kids under very difficult circumstances and ever-changing rules and guidelines. Courtney has completed the pin program, has represented NB at the Canada Youth Championship where she won 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal, holds several provincial short track records, and is currently a member of the NB provincial short track team. Her goal for next season is to represent NB at the National Juniors Championship. Merci Courtney Speed Skate NB

Thank you to April Belliveau-Corriveau of ABC Designs in Campbellton for making these awesome speed skate soakers for the Restigouche Comets. We approached April last week when we received a donation from Trash It - Dumpster Rentals / Location de conteneurs to see if she could sew up a few of these for the club. The extreme demands of short track!!

Reminder: speed skating practice for Intro to speed skating group tomorrow at 5:30pm on main ice surface. We’ll meet in the main entrance around 5:10pm. Kids must be fully dressed prior to arriving at the rink. Rappel: pratique pour le groupe Initiation au patinage de vitesse demain à 17h30 sur la glace principale. On se rencontre dans l’entrée principale vers 17h10. Les enfants doivent être complètement habillé avant d’arriver à larena.

Return to sport / Retour au sport FYI: The second ice surface will not be ready until Dec 7, at least. We were able to obtain some ice time on the main ice surface, however, not enough to run all of our programs: Here is how we will proceed:... 1) The LEARN TO SKATE program will be postponed until January 2021. Unfortunately, we were not able to secure enough ice time to successfully run our program. We will send an email to each affected parent to register for the January session. The fee will be $100 for the winter session. 2) INTRO TO SPEEDSKATING: The only times available would be Sundays from 5:30-6:30pm. If this time is not feasible for the majority of our skaters, the season will begin as soon as the second ice surface is available and practices will take place on Mondays as originally scheduled. We will send an email to you to get your input. Registration fees will be revised. 3) INTER/ADVANCED GROUP: Practices will be Monday from 7:20-8:20pm on the main ice surface. We apologize for this inconvenience and hope to get back to our regular schedule in January. - PVI : La deuxième glace ne sera pas disponible avant le 7 déc, minimum. Nous avons pu avoir quelques heures de glace sur la patinoire principale, mais malheureusement pas assez pour maintenir tout nos programmes. Voici comment nous allons procéder : 1) Le programme APPRENDRE À PATINER sera remis à janvier 2021. Malheureusement, nous n’avons pu obtenir assez de temps de glace pour offrir notre programme. Nous enverrons un courriel à tout les parents affecter afin de vous donnez le choix d’inscrire votre enfants pour la session de janvier. Le frais sera de 100$. 2) INTRO AU PATIN DE VITESSE : Le temps disponible est le dimanche de 17h30 à 18h30. Si c’est temps n’est pas convenient pour la majorité des patineurs, nous débuteront la saison lorsque la deuxième glace sera disponible et les pratiques auront lieu les lundi soirs comme prévues. Nous vous enverrons un courriel afin de comprendre vos préoccupations. Les frais d’inscriptions seront modifiés. 3) GROUPE INTER/AVANCE : Les pratiques auront lieu les lundi soir de 19h20 à 20h20 sur la glace principale. Nous sommes désolé pour ces inconvénients mais nous espérons retourner à notre horaire régulier en janvier.

MISE-A-JOUR ‘COVID-19’ UPDATE Yes! Zone 5 is going back to yellow phase... this means that we can skate!! We will contact all registered skaters early next week to give you up-to-date info on our new start date for each one of our programs. ... Oui ! Zone 5 retourne à la phase jaune... ceci veut dire que nous pouvons patiner !! Nous serons en contact avec tous nos patineurs déjà inscrits au début de la semaine prochaine afin de vous avisez des nouvelles dates pour le début des sessions pour chacun de nos programme.

MISE À JOUR COVID-19 UPDATE The Gov of NB has just announced that zone 5 (Campbellton region) is moving back to ‘phase orange’ tonight, resulting in the closure of the Civic Centre and the suspension of all organized sports. We are sad to announce that the start of our skating season will be postponed. I will keep you all posted!... Stay safe and take care of yourselves and your loved ones! Le gouvernement du N.-B. vient d’annoncer que la zone 5 (région de Campbellton) retournera à la ‘phase orange’ ce soir. Ceci causera la fermeture du centre civique et la suspension de tout sports organisés. Nous sommes triste de vous annoncer que le début de notre saison de patin sera remis à une date ultérieur.
