Restoration Project

After a long week, we are almost finished packing up the shop. It was a giant game of Tetris but we have almost finished packing up our 2000sft shop into into a 10x20 shipping container. Thank you to everyone who has lent a hand so far. I am grateful. We have a little more to do on Monday and could still use a few more hands. If you are available Monday between 10-3 let us know!

Friends I am reaching out with some news and requests. I unfortunately found out this week that we will not be able to renew the lease on our space at Restoration Project. The company that owns the building is expanding and needs our space. This is hard news to receive as we loved our new home at 270 parkdale and it’s creates some uncertainty surrounding what the future of Restoration Project looks like. I am certain that we will continue to make plans for the future and that... it’s not the end of our story. That being said for the meantime we are going to pack the shop into a shipping container and store it. All of this will have to be done before Sept 1st. I am reaching out for some help in the process. I will not be able to complete this task on my own and would greatly appreciate any and all help! Here are the times that I have slotted for packing and clearing out our space. TuesAug 25th - 1pm - 9pm Wed Aug 26th - 10am- 6pm Friday Aug 28th - 10am- 4pm Sat Aug 29th - 10am-2pm Monday Aug 31 - 10am-5pm (final clearout if needed) If you are available to help on any of these days let me know! I would also take snacks or food donations on any of those days for the volunteers. Please let me know ahead of time if you are able to help, so that I can make sure our numbers at any given time can accommodate social distancing.

A great reflection on the life of isolation many with disabilities have had to live. And when these quarantines end and we once again find it easy to take our casual gatherings for granted, let’s remember Dwain and others for whom social distancing has too often been an unchosen reality of marginalization. Let’s stay home together. And when the time comes, let’s leave our homes together as well.
