Your donor dollars at work. RESTOR International continues to support surgeries in Ethiopia even after we are gone. We work closely with our Colleague, Dr. Einar Erickson, a Norwegian Plastic Surgeon living in Ethiopia. He has been able to transform the life of 16 year old Defar by repairing his neck contracture from a serious burn as a young child. Dr. Erickson will perform a second surgery on Defar's arms to increase his movement. We are so grateful for our supporter's donations and support, which make surgeries like Defar's possible. Many Thanks! -RESTOR International

Tonight’s the night! This stunning piece by @capitan_davdi will be available at our sold out GOOD FORTUNE event raising funds for free reconstructive surgeries for children in need in Nepal. For guests attending, be sure to check out our Art Silent Auction this evening - these five original works by local artists are on 9x12 fabric pieces that nod to Tibetan prayer flags and our upcoming work in Nepal. A Tibetan prayer flag is a colorful rectangular cloth, often found strung along trails and peaks high in the Himalayas. They are traditionally hung in high places to catch the wind so the prayer will be carried out to bless and bring good fortune to where it is needed.

As a nod to our upcoming work in Nepal, local artists have donated original works on 9x12 prayer-flag-like pieces of fabric that will be available in our Art Silent Auction at GOOD FORTUNE on September 12. Prayer flags send good wishes for all people carried on the breeze to where they are needed. They are a rich part of Tibetan culture and are often hung along the Himalayan mountains in Nepal as a symbol to bless the countryside or send out a message of goodwill. Prayers ...for a long life of good fortune are often included for the person who mounts the flags. Thank you to donating artists: Jorden & David Doody, Liz Ranney, Shannon Cross, Karen Close, Susan LeBlanc, and Lee Claremont! All funds raised will go towards our upcoming work in Nepal. Happy Father’s Day to all of the incredible dads around the world. Some who travel hundreds of kilometers by foot for the chance for their children to be seen by doctors for surgical help, who walk the hospital hallways during surgeries, and sometimes walk alone. Who stand by and fight for their children when they can’t fight for themselves. Who never give up hope. #happyfathersday @ Ethiopia

No mother is perfect, but a mother’s love is. Many of our patient’s mothers and families walk long distances to bring their children to see our doctors. Photographed here is 14 month old Mulat with her mother. Mulat’s arm was burned in a cooking accident as an infant. Her mother’s back was turned for only a second while lifting the large pan used to cook flatbread from the fire when baby Mulat fell into the flames. It takes only three seconds to receive a third degree burn. M...ulat’s family walked 250km by foot over five days from their mountain village to Bahir Dar to have her seen by RESTOR’s medical team. Our surgeons were able to operate on her, and our volunteers helped the family with fresh food and water and clean clothes after their long journey. The surgery ensured Mulat will have a fully functional arm growing up, with less scarring and disfigurement. The extent a mother will go for her child is unfathomable. To all of the incredible mothers around the world, Happy Mother’s Day!
