CHRISTIAN MINDFULNESS Saturday November 3, 2018 9.30 am to 3.00 pm The Rev Sandor Borbley Incumbent at St Thomas Shanty Bay... Christian mindfulness is paying attention. It s noticing what you are doing, feeling and thinking at the time you are actually doing, feeling and thinking it. Because God is part of our everyday lives, paying attention to the divine and divine activity is a fundamental practice of Christian mindfulness. The presence of God is hidden from our senses. But when we focus on the present moment, we can have a sense of being present with the reality of where God exists. That’s why Br. Lawrence calls it the sacrament of the present moment. The present moment is when an experience of encounter with God, who is invisible, is possible. A day of learning and practice. Suggested fee: $55.00 includes materials and lunch To register: send cheque to: St James Anglican Church 58 Peter St, N. Orillia, Ont. L3V 6J6 Email: [email protected] The Rev Sandor Borbely The Rev'd Sándor Borbély (pron. Shaan-dor Bor-bay) is a Hungarian from Transylvania, has been trained by the Jesuits (1994-2007), living in Canada since 1999, an Anglican by choice since 2008, and is happily married to Emese. Sándor holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the School of Philosophy in Munich, an M.Div. and Masters in Sacred Theology from the Univ. of Toronto (special studies in contemplative spirituality). His ministry of God's people in the Anglican Church started at Trinity Church Aurora, then it continued at St. Andrew's in Alliston, All Saints in King City and Trinity Church in Bradford. He started his ministry at St. Thomas as a Priest-in-Charge in April 2015 and has continued as an Incumbent since January 2016. He likes reading and has a passion for learning new languages.
