Petra Petra is a music group regarded as a pioneer of the Christian rock and contemporary Christian music genres and was, for many years, regarded as the "world's most popular Christian rock band".[2] Formed in 1972, the band took its name from the Greek word for "rock". Though it disbanded formally in 2006, incarnations have played reunion shows in the years since and released two albums in November 2010, and in November 2017. In 2013, it reformed with a new drummer, Cristia...n Borneo, and recorded a new song titled "Holy is Your Name", before going back on tour. With a style initially similar to The Eagles and Lynyrd Skynyrd, Petra's sound evolved into a more energetic, driving rock sound in the early 1980s akin to Foreigner, Styx and Journey. Throughout the 1980s and into the early 1990s, Petra was one of the world's most popular Christian rock bands, with each of its albums during that period selling hundreds of thousands of copies while the band sold-out arenas and regularly placed songs at the top of Christian radio charts. With its lyrics, music and style, Petra influenced numerous other artists at a time when Christian rock experienced strong opposition from many conservative pastors and churches. In more than three decades, the band experienced numerous lineup changes yet released 20 studio albums, as well as two Spanish-language and two live albums, selling nearly 10 million copies while being nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, winning four[3], and winning 10 Dove Awards[4]. Its biggest hit, "The Coloring Song", reached the top position on three Christian radio charts simultaneously, and at its peak, the band's tours rivaled Amy Grant's in popularity among Christian audiences. Petra was the first rock band inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame[5] and the first Christian band whose memorabilia was included in the Hard Rock Cafe restaurant chain.[2] The band announced its retirement in 2005, launching a farewell tour that was recorded for release on CD and DVD. Petra's 33-year career ended with a performance in the early hours of January 1, 2006, in Murphy, North Carolina. However, the band has continued to perform sporadically since then. In November 2010, an incarnation of the band's mid-1980s lineup surfaced under the name Classic Petra. It released an album, Back to the Rock, featuring one new song ("Too Big To Fail"), one song taken from Greg X. Volz's 2009 album God Only Knows ("[Back To] The Rock"), as well as re-recordings of hits from that era. The band released a companion live CD and DVD in 2011.

Leonard Cohen Lyrics "Traveling Light" I'm traveling light... It's au revoir My once so bright, my fallen star I'm running late, they'll close the bar I used to play one mean guitar I guess I'm just somebody who Has given up on the me and you I'm not alone, I've met a few Traveling light like we used to do Good night, good night, my fallen star I guess you're right, you always are I know you're right about the blues You live some life you'd never choose I'm just a fool, a dreamer who forgot to dream of the me and you I'm not alone, I've met a few Traveling light like we used to do Traveling light It's au revoir My once so bright, my fallen star I'm running late, they'll close the bar I used to play one mean guitar I guess I'm just somebody who Has given up on the me and you I'm not alone, I've met a few Traveling light like we used to do But if the road leads back to you Must I forget the things I knew When I was friends with one or two Traveling light like we used to do I'm traveling light

RYAN'S FANCY Ryan’s Fancy was an Irish folk music group active from 19691983, all three of whose members were Irish immigrants to Canada. Early years... Denis Ryan, Fergus O'Byrne, and Dermot O'Reilly, were originally members of the Sons of Erin. The original Sons of Erin line-up featured Dermot and Fergus along with Gary Kavanagh and band leader Ralph O'Brien. When the band broke up Dermot, Fergus and Gary continued on for one tour as O'Reilly's Men and upon returning to Toronto met up with Don Sullivan to form the original Sullivan's Gypsies. Ralph O'Brien reformed The Sons Of Erin with new members Johnnie Lynn, John Cameron and Denis Ryan and recorded a self-titled LP. Shortly afterward Denis left to join Sullivan's Gypsies. Ryan's Fancy came to be when Sullivan's Gypsies parted ways. 1971-1983: Critical success The trio relocated to St. John's, Newfoundland in 1971 to attend Memorial University of Newfoundland. Making a splash in the local music scene, the group landed the first of several television series. Produced by Jack Kellum on CBC, the show involved the trio travelling and playing across Atlantic Canada. Ryan's Fancy had their own syndicated series called Ryan's Fancy (January 1972 to April 1972) and the pub-styled Tommy Makem and Ryan's Fancy (July to September 1974). Plus, in 1980, they starred and performed in the CBC-TV movie Pirate's Gold. It was in this period that accordion virtuoso James Keane from Dublin became a band-member and contributor of traditional music to the ballad-focused trio. Shortly after Keane left the band, Ryan's Fancy split. Keane moved to New York City where he became part of the traditional scene there through the 1980s to the present day. 1983-present: Disbanding and current status The group disbanded in 1983. Denis Ryan moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia and became an investment banker and businessman while Fergus O'Byrne and Dermot O'Reilly remained in St. John's. Fergus completed a degree in education and began a successful career as a teacher and performer, while Dermot opened a music recording studio, called Piperstock Productions. Fergus can be seen performing weekly on George Street at O'Reilly's Pub in St. John's. Fergus also continues to tour both nationally and internationally with Jim Payne and A Crowd Of Bold Sharemen. In 2004, Ryan's Fancy were awarded the Dr. Helen Creighton Lifetime Achievement Award of the East Coast Music Association. Dermot O'Reilly died on 17 February 2007, from a heart attack at age 64. He was survived by fellow former Ryan's Fancy members Ryan and O'Byrne. Denis Ryan (vocals, fiddle, tin whistle) Fergus O'Byrne (vocals, banjo, concertina, bodhran) Dermot O'Reilly (vocals, guitar, mandolin)

In 1959, following a State Department sponsored tour of Africa, he recorded Flautista!, an album of Afro-Cuban jazz. In 1961 Mann toured Brazil, returning to the United States to record with Brazilian musicians, including Antonio Carlos Jobim and guitarist Baden Powell. These albums helped popularize bossa nova in the US and Europe. He often worked with Brazilian themes. In the mid-1960s Mann hired a young Chick Corea to play in some of his bands.
