Valley Gardens Middle School students and staff celebrated Diwali (Dee-wah-lee) today with cultural attire, a PowerPoint lesson, and individually wrapped samosas... yum! Diwali is an important holiday in India and around the world. It's also know as the festival of lights because it's about light winning over dark. The date changes every year and is between October and November. This year, it falls on Saturday, November 14. Happy Diwali!
Grade 4 and 5 students from Angus McKay School wrote letters to doctors, nurses and health-care aides thanking them for their work. They are being delivered by parents in the community that work in the health-care field.

Recently, Kristine Kasdorf, inclusion teacher, visited Room 4 students at Polson School to work with them on learning about how the brain works. The students learned that their brains control their actions, memories, feelings, and thoughts. They each created a brain as a tool to help them remember and share with their families.
