Throwing it back to last year’s Christmas colors of reds, whites and silver. Candy cane is a fun look and adds a pop to the room. The key is to diversify your ornaments and accessories and switch up the sizes and shapes so the tree looks fuller and unique. Basement 101: Designing and building a basement is a carefully thought process. There are many elements to consider. 1. What is the current purpose and potential future purpose of the space? 2. What is important to the client? If children are in the house, perhaps a play area is important. If there isn’t sufficient office space in the house, perhaps a full office is needed. If exercise at home is important, a gym area may be a priority. In a lot of cases, with the right spat...ial planning, you can accommodate all the needs of the family. In this particular basement, there was no office in the home so a full separate office area was needed. There are also little children in the house so we incorporated a playroom. Mom wanted an exercise area but space was very limited so we had to get creative with that room. A pop of orange on an accent wall really did the trick and made the space so welcoming. We divided the open basement into compartments as if they were separate rooms but obviously no walls. The flow between colors and styles had to blend even though the areas were for different functions and needs. The use of an accent stone wall for the tv/fireplace and the same stones in the bar really made the space look uniform. Working closely and diligently with a great team made this project a success!
