Hi Everyone! Have you attended one of our shows in the last year? The Jazz Club is considering ways that we might present shows in over the next few months in a safe and responsible manner that conforms with BCCDC rules and guidelines. If you could take a few moments to fill out this survey we would be most grateful - thanks in advance! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MKKD3DG

Today we mourn the loss of a Canadian jazz icon, the irrepressible Hugh Fraser. A fabulous multi-instrumentalist and composer, Hugh brought tremendous energy and positivity to all of his performances and was a huge influence on several generations of musicians both in Canada and around the world. RIP Hugh, you will be greatly missed by many. https://www.cbc.ca//jazz-musician-hugh-fraser-has-died-1.5

As listeners and performers of jazz music it's important that we understand the history of this art form and where it came from. While this music is now played and enjoyed around the world, it's roots are in the African American culture and experience. This podcast is a great discussion about the history of jazz and its ties to the racial oppression of the African American community. Take the time to give it a listen. https://www.learnjazzstandards.com//ljs-222-jazz-racial-/

The Jazz Club is very thankful to the Revelstoke Credit Union's Community Giving Project, which allotted $1000 to the Jazz Club to help in the purchase of sound equipment. With so many worthy groups applying for funding we feel very fortunate to receive this support.

The Jazz Club, Revelstoke BC is cancelling our show on March 27th featuring "Blues and the Awkward Truth" due to concerns and restrictions caused by Covid-19. We look forward to presenting the band sometime at a later date - until then stay safe everyone!

We're looking for a few volunteers for our March 27th show as Bob will be out of town. Please let us know if you can help out with any of the following; - setting up tables and chairs in the late afternoon - serving as M/C, introducing the band and thanking the audience and sponsors - taking donations, counting the take at the door, and giving payment to musicians.... Thanks in advance to anyone who's able to lend a hand :)
