Earlier today, the RGSE were alerted to a group of anti-choice "activists" pamphleting and spewing their nonsense in the busiest part of downtown Peterborough. Comrades within minutes convened to promptly shut them down. Within 45 minutes, shaken and not expecting the large outpouring of combative progressives, the anti-choicers left with their disgusting signs in hand. Dozens of downtown locals and workers came out of their homes and businesses to scorn the anti-choice prote...sters. Big thanks to the PCR-RCP and MER-RSM for coming out alongside us! Nestlé Waters Canada is permitted to bottle 12 million litres of water per day in Ontario for $3.71 per million litres. The government is allowing Nestlé to tak...e water for next to nothing, while Indigenous peoples living on reserves can't get access to freshwater, and over 137 First Nations communities are under boil water advisories, 100 of them for more than a decade. Near Elora, the traditional territory of the Six Nations of the Grand River, Nestlé has bought the permits to wells that provide water to entire communities like Aberfoyle, Ontario where Nestlé has continued to bottle water despite droughts. If there is money to be made, Canadian arms companies have no scruples.

Over the course of a year, some 235 000 people in Canada will experience homelessness. Nearly 44 000 of them are youth. And yet, according to the 2016 census, t...here are 1 300 000 empty homes in Canada: enough to house 3 200 000 people! Homelessness is not caused by a lack of housing. Homelessness is caused by the rich trying to make money off of people's basic need for shelter. Homeless is caused by capitalism. But, because most municipal politicians are in the pockets of the developers who make money hand-over-fist through property speculation, we're not likely to see any solution to the problem of homelessness. And even if someone tried, the banks, developers, and other rich could always resort to applying economic pressure to get their way, as they do any time workers try and better their conditions. There is virtually no solution to homelessness under capitalism. By getting rid of capitalism, we could solve homelessness almost instantly. And in turn, that would greatly increase the standard of living for the most vulnerable among us: LGBTQ2S+ youth included. Another reason to say: Fuck the 150!

Canadian mining companies are some of the worst abusers of social and human rights on earth. Just like at home, Canadian mining companies abroad destroy the env...ironment and local communities as they mine resources out of the ground. And when locals stand up and resist? Canadian mining companies make sure that they are killed. Canadian mining companies have been implicated in the deaths of dozens of Indigenous activists all over the world. Plenty of money for the Canada 150 celebrations, yet no money to provide clean drinking water to Indigenous peoples. Really makes priorities clear. For this reason, among others, Fuck the 150th!

Today RGSE comrades did a second round of pamphleting at our high school. More than 100 leaflets and pamphlets were distributed and several approached us afterwards to learn more about what the RGSE initiative has to offer. If our high schools won't provide us with with anti-oppressive sex ed, make an effort to combat rape culture, transphobia, homophobia, and anti-choice ideas at school, we'll educate and organize ourselves.

The RGSE had a successful first pamphleting at a Peterborough high school alongside local students, we were received very well, and look forward to building a proletarian feminist, revolutionary movement everywhere students are found!
