Not quite Straturday, but if it’s a chicken or sort of deal, I think the tele is most definitely the egg. The proto-Strat, who’s nearly perfect design hasn’...t changed much in close to 70 years. This reissue, faithfully reproduced to vintage spec by the Fender custom shop, is right at home playing all the music from it’s era. As a tele player myself, what always amazes me is how well they fit in modern genres and styles that didn’t even exist when the Telecaster was invented. @ R Guitars See more

Refretted this Gibson Melody Maker with some lower profile frets for a more vintage feel. She also got a new bridge, some killer Lollar P90s, vintage wiring harness (replaced the circuit board), and a wildebeest horn nut. @ R Guitars

#teletuesday and we love it! The ‘52 reissue is about as close as you can get to custom shop, at less than half the price. It’s amazing what a proper fret level.../polish can do to help the playability of the vintage 7.25 radius necks. Lower action, smoother frets, and big bends that ring for what seems like forever. A HUGE thank you to Simon Fisk for selling me this Danelectro Shorthorn 3412. Simon is a highly respected Canadian Jazz bassist with many amazing recordings. ...Check out his work at www.simonfisk.com. Such full diverse tone in this bass. A special thanks to Stephen Rozitis for the amazing set up and conditioning. J. Anthony Granelli owned it before Simon. Jerry Granelli’s son. Jerry is the drummer on "A Charlie Brown's Christmas" which is among many other great recordings throughout his career. One of Jay's first recordings with his Dad is Jerry's album "Dance Hall" featuring Bill Frisell and Robben Ford. Such a great session. Jay had it for many many years and had a repair guy in new york finish it in baby blue. Jay as well has many amazing recordings throughout his career. Simon did a session with Jay in brooklyn in 1994, Jay was playing his Jerry Jones with fuzz pedals etc.. "I thought (and think) he is the coolest electric bassist ever. Just oozes musicality and creativity." Simon toured "A Charlie Brown's Christmas" with Jerry just recently and the connection here is inspiring at maximum levels. As a guitar nerd I have to say, we see some absolutely incredible instruments come across the bench, and this week is no exception. 2 Collings, 2 Suhrs, 4 Gibso...ns, 4 Fender custom shops, PRS silver sky, a vintage Yamaki, 3 vintage ovations, a gypsy jazz box, 2 Larivees, a half dozen cool basses, and of course all the usual suspects. Despite all of the stellar company, this 1974 Martin D41 really stood out amongst the crowd. I love to see instruments that have been well loved, played for thousands of hours, to thousands of ears. New nut November! Observe the many meticulous steps involved in the making of a custom cut bone nut. Each one is selected, cut, and shaped by hand to ensure a perfect fit for your instrument. After the final adjustments are made, it’s polished to a mirror shine. @ R Guitars
