CANADA EMERGENCY RENT SUBSIDY (CERS) - Additional Information And Supporting Details The Altona & District Chamber of Commerce is pleased to provide information and clarification relative to additional financial support from the Government of Canada to assist our members who desperately need assistance to ensure the success of their businesses/organizations.... The new Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy provides simple and easy-to-access rent, mortgage and taxation support until June 2021 for qualifying businesses and organizations affected by COVID-19 public health directives. This subsidy will be provided directly to tenants, while also providing support to property owners. It will support businesses, charities, and non-profits that have suffered a revenue drop, by subsidizing a percentage of their expenses, on a sliding scale, up to a maximum of 65 per cent of eligible expenses until December 19, 2020. (Organizations would be able to make claims retroactively for the period that began September 27 and ends October 24, 2020.) A top-up Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy of 25 per cent for organizations temporarily shut down by a mandatory public health order issued by a qualifying public health authority, in addition to the 65 per cent subsidy. The new rent subsidy would pick up where CERCA left off, delivering direct, targeted, and accessible rent support to qualifying organizations affected by COVID-19 without the need to work through their landlords, providing a subsidy for eligible fixed property expenses, including rent and interest on commercial mortgages. The Altona & District Chamber of Commerce wants to clarify the new and revised QRG for the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy program that was distributed on Monday. Since then there was a minor adjustment in grammar in the eligibility section. Also one thing that needs to be addressed is with respect to the application period vs reporting period: The application periods for CERS is based on a 4 week/28 day interval The reporting periods for the baseline revenue comparison option to be used to determine the drop in revenue to calculate your claim are based on the calendar month Many of the eligible expenses are based on the calendar month for example: Rent Mortgage Property Taxes Insurance Parking and or maintenance costs under a lease agreement Eligible utility expense re typically not billed by the calendar month, rather by billing cycle and often more than a 28 period CERS CALCULATIONS https://files.constantcontact.com//73f7194e-840c-4697-9044 CERS DETAILS https://files.constantcontact.com//1b3e4a44-2788-47ec-a215
