Friday feels While we’re on a mini lockdown in Vancouver it can be quite discouraging to be in this situation again, feeling isolated and not be able to see and love on our loved ones. It’s more important than ever to be grateful for the ones we love and the connections we can maintain from near and afar. So so grateful for my family, especially this beautiful woman here. Mi hermosa prima can’t believe it was almost two years ago that I had the incredible opportunity to g...o down to visit her in beautiful Cabo San Lucas for almost two months.. needless to say we had the most incredible time together and made many memories that’ll last us until we’re gray and old (in which case we’ll still be adventuring together right @mishka.nicole) Who’s someone you’re grateful for? Send them some love & them know right now!

I’ve noticed many new faces around here so I thought I’d have some fun and share some random facts about me so we can get to know each other a bit better! 1. Health and wellness became a passion of mine when I started dealing with a lot of health issues as an adolescent. I enrolled in the natural nutrition program @csnnvancouver and it was one of the best things I ever did for my health. Not only was i able to finally get answers to questions no one else could provide m...e but I found so much empowerment in being able to move myself forward in my health journey. 2. I LOVE to travel. This has been one of the bigger struggles for me and the time we’re in. Not knowing when I’ll get away or even can think to start planning for my next trip. But for now, a girl can dream! When it is safe to travel again, my dream trips off my bucket list would be a safari in South Africa or a road trip down the coast of Cali hitting up Napa, Sonoma and Disneyland (of course!) Until then while we’re all quarantined up, I’ve been enjoying @jlohrwines sushi dates with my cousin @mishka.nicole 3. My love languages I believe are primarily Acts of Service and Words of Affirmation although I do think it changes depending on the situation. For example during quarantine I’m really realizing how important physical touch was to me and missing being able to hug my family and friends. 4. The simply pleasures I really appreciate are: coffee in bed, scented candles, fresh bed sheets, cozy nights in. Favourite right now is @saltspringcoffee Blue Heron - it’s so smooth and chocolatey with a little bit of cashew cream it tastes like a mocha. HIGHLY recommend! What’s a random fact about you that I should know?

’ ‘ ? When my anxiety creeps in, if it’s a ruminating thought I find it helpful to think so what? Allowing my mind to wonder - if this situation goes wrong, how wrong could it go? From there I think what’s the worst case scenario, really allowing my mind to wonder (and trust me, I know, sometimes it ain’t pretty). But then from there I think, okay if X happens, I can do Y to fix it or I can do Z to a...void X. I also start to think, realistically how likely is this to happen? Realizing how i’d handle my worst case scenario and that i’d come out on the other end just fine - because we always do, is incredibly powerful. Also: , ’ . If it’s more action based then I’ll give myself a kick in the ass to get out there and do it. It’s easier in situations where you can act in the moment vs future plans but just remind yourself of all the other times you were afraid of the outcome and how rewarding it felt when you conquered your fears. . For example, I have a fear of heights and now in the last year I’ve gone sky diving and paragliding and LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!!Next up.. bungee jumping! ’ .

? Here’s a recipe you won’t want to miss This delicious and healthy upgrade on risotto features yummy mushrooms, buckwheat groats and truffle oil. It’s one of the many simple recipes found on The Healthstyle Emporium! @thehseofficial ... With fresh mushrooms and truffle oil, can you really go wrong? I think not. If you’re a mushroom lover, give this a try tonight and let me know your thoughts. - - - - - - Ingredients 1 tbsp extra virgin coconut oil 1.5 cups roasted buckwheat groats onion 6 cups mushrooms 2 cloves garlic 5 cups vegetable broth 1 tbsp + juice from half of a lime tsp salt (or to taste) 1 tbsp nutritional yeast 2 sprigs thyme truffle oil (optional, but HIGHLY recommended) lime zest, parsley, green onion (garnish) Instructions Dice the onions, mushrooms, and garlic and sauté over medium-low heat with 1 tbsp coconut oil. When the onions become translucent and most of the water released from the mushrooms has been evaporated, add the buckwheat groats and toast until a fragrant, nutty aroma is released. Add 1 cup broth, 1 tbsp of lime juice, salt, and thyme and simmer on low heat, stirring constantly, until most of the liquid has been absorbed. Add another cup of broth, stirring constantly, and wait for the liquid to be absorbed before adding more broth. Repeat process until all 5 cups of broth have been absorbed into the risotto. Remove from heat and stir in the nutritional yeast and lime zest. Garnish the buckwheat risotto with more lime zest, parsley and diced green onion. Drizzle with leftover lime juice and truffle oil for an added flavor boost.
