I have room in my 11:30-12:30 LYT series starting tomorrow! I know so many of you have questions about what to expect from this class especially before committing to a three week series. Well, I will do my best to sum it up and feel free to ask your questions in the comments below! Each LYT class begins with fairly intense glute and core work. We work slowly but you will feel muscles you didn't know existed. We work the glutes and core because those are the main muscle groups... that support our ability to have great posture and a neutral pelvis and your posture REALLY matters when talking about moving well and living well in your body. We spend quite a bit of time on our knees and weight bearing on the hands (because that is how we strengthen our core from the top down). A full class consists of 4 parts: The Reset (glute, core, kneeling lunge salutations), Sequence 1 (a bit tricky for the brain but accessible to most), Sequence 2 (completely different than Seq 1, but maybe just as tricky), and the Stream (a combination of all of the movements from the Reset, and both Sequences). When I say tricky, I mean movements that your brain is not used to making. We move forward and back, side to side, up and down, and all around the mat. Your brain will work just as hard as your body and that is part of the beauty of it! Your brain will grow along with your strength and stability. We want to re-pattern our brains and re-establish optimal movements so that our bodies last for as LONG as possible! This is set up as a 3 week series so that we can take that entire time to workshop the movements and to build up towards doing a full class. There aren't a lot of places you can go to ask all of your questions and really learn about your body and the way it was designed to move. So, come and learn with me! If you've been wanting to try a LYT class, tomorrow is your chance! I'm running this livestream class as a stand alone before we head into the next series of three. We work our glutes, work our core, and then use those muscles to support a neutral spine and pelvis as we move through the class. It is less about holding particular poses (or worrying about whether or not we are in the "full pose") and all about learning the way our bodies were designed to move and support themselves in and out of various positions.
