Tonight in the house we are debating the significance of the cancellation of the permits for the Keystone XL pipeline. I think everyone in the debate today agreed that we must act quickly to ensure that these workers can find jobs that they can count on over the coming years. The question is, what actions will produce those long-lasting jobs for the future? Will building more pipelines produce long-lasting jobs? Or should we be creating good jobs to transition out of the fossil fuel industry into a future that tackles climate change with bold investments in energy efficiency, oil and gas well cleanup, and clean energy technologies? As you may guess, I think that doubling down on pipelines is a waste of time, money, and the future of oil patch workers. Please watch my statement today in the house to understand why.
