Look what my wife found today. 38 years ago.

New Teak Veneer that was cut and milled in my shop to 100 thousands of an inch. The table top was accurately measured to the thousands and planed off exactly. This was done to insure the existing hinges would still function properly with the new veneer and finish. The leafs fold up and rest on top of the centre section, so this was critical that these measurements where taken and the veneer was exact. We used the poly urethane vacuum bag and the double Venturi vacuum pump to press the veneer and glue. Then I applied 7 coats of finish and sanded to 400g for the last two coats. Absolute Perfection.

Vacuum pressing teak veneer made in shop from 12/4 teak stock to 100 thousands of an inch, to fix a trawler saloon table. Having a band saw that you can resaw with that you can use a dial indicator on, to cut exact. That is why I get and why I deserve to get these special jobs. Tomorrow the veneer edge pieces get fitted with mitered edges. Then it’s refinishing to better than new condition. Looking forward to showing off the table in a few days.

Getting closer to another boating season. This is my boat. A Sabre 34 Mk1 which is most likely the nicest Sabre 34 in the world. She now cruises Georgian Bay.

Another Successful Project for a very happy client. Electronic Battery Switches, a new panel, keel cooled refrigeration, new stereo, new vhf with remote, new plumbing thru out with PEX WB pipes and fittings, wiring reorganized in terminal block system, LED lighting thru out, larger house battery bank, stainless steel custom water jet cut and formed rudder, new plotter, wind and autopilot, Raritan Toilet, USB charging outlets, 2000 watt inverter-charger with remote panel. Took a nice older boat and made it useable for another twenty years.
