Rhein Rockets Win the Richardson Pioneer League in dramatic fashion! Playoff MVP(s) Evan Neibrandt and Terry Peppler. After 2 scoreless innings David Renkas broke it open with a Solo HomeRun in the bottom of 3. The teams each got one in 4 with Veteran Terry Peppler pitching himself out of a bases loaded 1 out situation with two backwards K’s. Th...e jr Royals then took the lead in top of 6 with 4 runs putting them to 5-2. Rhein answers back with 1 in 6. And after Terry Peppler shut down the Royals in the top of 7. In the bottom of 7 the Royals gave up one then with Rhett Reeve and 2 out in second Brett Peppler launched a Walk off Home run to win game 2. With the Series tied at two the Modified best of 3 would be decided in a sudden death extra inning style game. With a runner on second to start the inning the JR Royals the managed to load the bases. Clean up Hitter Carter McLean hit a long fly ball to second and Logan Schultz scored on the Sac Fly. In the bottom of the inning With Adam Neibrandt on Second Evan Neibrandt hit a line drive triple in the gap to tie the game. Jr Royals gave Smalley and Peppler their bases to create a force play at home. However with Aaron Rathgerber up a wild pitch reached the screen allowing Evan Neibrandt to score from 3rd and claim the Richardson Pioneer Men’s Fastball League Championship. Rhein joined the league in 2018. They lost in the Finals in 2018, Semi Finals in 2019 before reaching the Pinnacle of the league this year into he back of Veteran Terry Peppler that pitched most of the Playoff Games Including every inning of the final. The Pitching matchup in the final showed the diversity of age in the League with Peppler being 43 years senior to Royals Pitcher Koby Faubert. Jr Royals had a great season and have proven to be a strong team despite being all teenagers. The team has been in the league since it’s inception only clamming 2 wins in the first 3 years. They continued to work hard and develop to the point where they had a 5-6 record in 2019 and knocked off the 2018 Champs is the playoffs. This year the boys had a winning record and were 1 out away from the League Championship. The Jr Royals have nothing to hang their head about and will be a force in the league in 2021. Finals Schedule is set. The Rockets will visit Wadena RE/MAX Diamond to face the Jr Royals on Friday night. Then the Juniors will drive to Rhein for Games 2 and 3 (if necessary extra inning) starting at 2:00 PM Saturday. The first two games will be 7-Innings with the 3rd being an extra inning if needed.

Richardson Pioneer Men's Fastball League Semifinal 2: 7-0 Wynyard Blues def Rosebud Jr Royals WP Mike Jordan. ... 6-3 Juniors won game 2 WP Koby Faubert 1-0 game 3 WP Koby Faubert. Like all of the League’s Playoffs Series’, this was a Modified Best of three with game three as an international rule sudden death game. In the extra inning style game 3 each team started with a runner on second base. The Royals Kaden Fedak advanced the runner with a groundout to SS. Next up Luke Scutchings hit an RBI fly to right field before Mike Jordan shut the door for the Blues. In the bottom half of the inning the Royals Koby Faubert shut the Blues batters down with a Strikeout followed by two ground outs. Final series dates (modified best of 3): Friday at 6:30 in Wadena. 7 inning game. Saturday at 2:00 in Rhein. 7 inning game. One-inning game 3 if needed would happen at the conclusion of game 2. The League Final will feature a proven Rhein Rockets team having won 1st place in the league and been around the Men’s Fastball Circuit for year against a young team that has improved in the ranks every year of the leagues existence. The Jr Royals are made up of all U19 (formerly Midget Aged) and would have been competing for another Provincial Championship this year but with those cancelled this league title will be their last competitive games of the year. James Anderson HR- Luke Scutchings Jr. Royals 3 FL 4 WP- Ryan Junop LP-Lucas Ochitwa For the First time the 3rd game was needed to decide the series. It was an extra inning sudden death format with a runner starting at second. Jr. Royals-1 FL-0 WP: Koby Faubert LP: Ryan Junop Kaden Fedak hit a 2B to lead off the bottom of the inning for the win. Wynyard Blues and Rosebud Jr Royals Advance to Semi Final in Wynyard Sunday time 1:00 and 3:00 in Wynyard. Rhein Rockets Defeated Neudorf Posse in Semi-Final. 6-5 in extra innings 12-3 game 2 Terry Peppler wins both games Grant Edgar goes 3/3 Game 1 with 3 RBI and walk off single. Evan Neibrandt with 3 home runs on the day. Rockets advance to League Final and will host it as top seeded team.

Carter Petersen scored the winning run in tonight’s RPFL Final Series game with a broken hand. Tied at 1-1 in the bottom of 6 Petey reached 1st on a well place...d bunt between 3rd and the pitcher. He then stole second base but in the process jammed his hand on the base breaking his hand. However He did stay in the game. On the next pitch Petersen scored the winning run off a Luke Scutchings single to right. Carter will require surgery and a cast for 6-8 weeks but Coach Faubert says Petersen is questionable for game 2 with an upper body injury, keeping his cards close to his chest in the Playoff series. Dad Curtis says Carter is still able to drive a combine this fall. Scutchings scored off a Lucas Ochitwa Fieldera Choice, then the JR Royals shut the Rockets down in the top of 7 for the 3-1 win. WP Koby Faubert Hr Evan Neibrandt Rockets Game 2 In Rhein 2:00 tomorrow. Game 3 if needed to follow extra inning Sudden death format.

Jr Royals take lead in Richardson Pioneer Fastball League Rosebud JR Royals win 3-1 Over Rhein Rockets... WP Koby Faubert Hr Evan Neibrandt Rockets Friday night at RE/MAX Diamond in Wadena saw a intense ball game 1 of the Richardson Pioneer Men’s Fastball Finals. Veteran Pitcher Terry Peppler from the Rockets and 16 year old Koby Faubert didn’t allow many base runners all game in a low scoring battle. The Royals came out on top with error free defence and a great display of small ball to score some of their few base runners with bunts, stolen bases and Clutch hits. The Royals jumped to a 1-0 lead in the 3rd but Evan Neibrandt quickly tied it up with a solo home run in the top of 4. The Royals speed was showcased in the bottom of 6 with Carter Petersen getting a lead off bunt single Between 3rd and the pitcher and a stolen base, followed by a 0-2 single by Luke Scutchings. Scutchings was able to reach 3rd off a stolen base and error and Lucas Ochitwa’s scored him on a groundout to 2nd to take the lead 3-1. Royals shut the Rockets bats down once again in the top of 7 for the win thanks to pitcher Koby Faubert and solid defence by the teenaged Royals. Game 2 In Rhein 2:00 Saturday. Playoffs are set for the Richardson Pioneer Men’s Fastball League starting tonight. After Consultation with Softball Sask and to follow the Province’s Covid Rules instead of a Playoff Tournament in one location the Playoffs are now hosted in the top seeds locations. The Playoffs will be a single elimination (no b-side) with Modified Triple Knockout. Not Cancelled YET. RPMFL hopes to run some sort of a season this year if Softball gets the Government go-ahead. Richardson Pioneer has given their full support and We hope to hear an update soon from the Government for a start date. The board is keeping all options open from a home at home season with Playoffs to Playoffs only and everything in between. At this point our news is we have no news until The Government makes the call to play ball.

COVID-19 DELAYS START OF SEASON Good morning fastball players, coaches, and fans alike. We, at the RPMFL, are hopeful and anxious to play ball this summer, when exactly that will be will be decided by Softball Sask and the Sask Health Authority. We have 2 tentative schedules in place and sent to managers as of today and will post those in the coming weeks if the Re-Open Sask Plan continues to go well. Due to limitations on public and private gathering numbers limited to 10 at... the moment and Softball Sask suspending play until at least May 15th, league play will obviously be pushed back some. This morning we announced Re-Open Saskatchewan: our plan to re-open our province’s economy. By proceeding with caution, by maintaining restrictions on high risk... activities, and by continuing to maintain good physical distancing and cleanliness practices, there is a path for us to slowly lift restrictions and re-open businesses and services. Over the coming weeks, we can carefully and cautiously Re-open Saskatchewan while still protecting our province from the spread of COVID-19.

This is a pretty cool story about the 2019 Softball Sask Female Athlete of the year.

Two Wadena volunteers were honoured last weekend at Softball Saskatchewan’s awards. RPFL’s executive member and Rosebud Royals Scott Comfort won Volunteer of the year. Also a staple at any softball event including many JR Royals games, Brenda Jones picked up a Service Award for her years of service.

Provincial Champs! Congrats to the Rosebud Junior Royals on picking up the U16 boys Provincials! They defeated Saskatoon and Shellbrook Saturday to advance to... the final where the defeated Shellbrook once again 4-0. On July 1 in Wadena the Richardson Pioneer Finals Tournament Continues. In The A-Side Final: Balcarress Broncs came out on top of the Western Cycle Source For Sports Conference Playoff. They will face the host Rosebud Royals at 12:00 who picked up two wins in the Pattison Agriculture Conference Playoff. Winner of that game advances to the League Final Game at 5:00, while the loser drops the the B-Final at 3:00. All of the above games are in RE/MAX Diamond sponsored by Re...max Blue Chip Realty - Yorkton Scott Comfort - Re/Max Blue Chip Realty and Flo Christianson- Re/Max Blue Chip Realty. On the B-Side and Water World Industries Inc. Diamond, the Rhein Rockets face the Rosebud Jr Royals and Neudorf Posse face the Foam Lake Merchants Fastball Club both at 10:00.
