University of Calgary Men’s basketball are getting ready for the regular season After a strength session, as an added challenge I slide a couple of 2x4s under the hurdles. Ultimately I’d like to see toes in the forward plane after each step. It makes it difficult when balance is added. #GoDinos

Athlete Development is the most important thing any coach can do. Get kids to move well early in their lives so it carries them into their adult lives. No matter what they do

Get after it with a dual landmine alternating push press I like the versatility of this exercises. You must stay connected to the ground and stable in the core. Add this to your list of supplemental lifts for power development and coordination

I’ve found that pairing a Power Clean style of lift with a single leg support, dynamic exercise is best. Today is: Landmine 1 Arm Clean and Jerk 5x each arm With Step-Up jump switches x10 (5 each leg)... Bounding, accelerations, split jumps and one leg vertical jumps are all great for post-activation potentiation in this case #movefaster #movestronger See more

We talk about working hard, training smart, effort & never give up attitudes. All very commendable. Sometimes you need to listen to your body and do the immediate things that help start your recovery. I know now that as an athlete I needed to spend more time with cooling down & self care. Nutrition, hydration & sleep I had down. I needed to do more & sooner... Pay it forward with extra time to start your recovery. Rolling, stretching, lengthening. Don’t just walkaway from your training session thinking your bulletproof You’re not! Pay now or pay later but if you pay later, you’ll pay more Says me (10 surgeries later) Back, both thumbs, both feet, shoulder, 4x knee. All from not taking care of what was necessary. Hindsight is always 20/20. So please pay now Work hard? YESSS! Recovery Harder Today I chose foam rolling, infra red sauna and #recoverywear @underarmour @underarmourca @hyperice See more

Med Ball Side Plank w Hip Lift. Originally I thought that this would be primarily oblique core stability. However, the level of shoulder stability required often surprises my athletes. The more firm the ball the greater the difficulty. #injuryprevention Thankful for stability in my shoulders. #hovrsonic shoes... #uathreadbourne t-shirt Under Armour See more
