Friday May 15 to Monday May 18, 2020 is Free Family Fishing weekend on PEI. This is a great time for the whole family to get out and enjoy a beautiful long week...end but please keep COVID 19 safety in mind at all times. Recently, while out fishing with their family, Rylie Buckley enjoyed catching her first trout and Rhys Bucklely caught a impressive 21-incher! Nice catch!

As this year comes to an end we would like to take a moment to extend a huge thank you to the Prince Edward Island Wildlife Conservation Fund for awarding us $10,410 to carry out a number of activities to restore, maintain, create and enhance fish and wildlife habitats on the Trout River (Tyne Valley), the Mill Creek (Birch Hill), the Little Trout River (Richmond), and the Ellis River (Wellington) Watersheds. The WCF Fund is generated from the annual licence fees of anglers, hunters and trappers and from the sale of motor vehicle conservation plates. Thank you all for your contribution!

Some photo results of the restoration work that was achieved in 2015 to restore degraded in-stream habitat on the Mill Creek located in Birch Hill, PEI. The focus of work was to install brush mat structures that help remove sediment from the stream bottom and to uncover its original rock/gravel habitat. Fantastic work carried out by our 2015 work crew Jenna, Blake, Chelsea and Jake!

Be part of the solution! P.E.I. will become the first province in Canada to ban the single-use bags, under the Plastic Bag Reduction Act. The act is designed, in part, to reduce the number of plastic bags that end up scattered across the Island landscape. To celebrate the efforts to reduce litter across the Island, we are giving away a starter pack of reusable shopping bags. Eleven bags in total.... Share this post and be sure to like the Richmond Bay Watershed’s page for your chance to win. Draw for the prize will be Monday evening on July 1st, 2019. Have a great Weekend!
