COVID-19 Pandemic RCAC Update March 19, 2020 Dear brothers and sisters, Greetings to you in Christ Jesus our Lord.... These are difficult times. Still, we trust in God, who watches over us, who cares for our every need, and meets us with nothing less than his everlasting love. In this time of national crisis and emergency due to the pandemic of COVID-19, when we need to suspend all church activities (50+) and respond to the call to social-distancing and to stay at home, it is very challenging for all of us. We are here to build our Christian community and to reach out to the community at large, social distancing seems to bring all things to a halt. However, it is at times like this that we should draw close to God and therefore to each other in the Spirit. The follow are some further measures that we have taken in response to the crises: 1) Cancellation of all gatherings at RCAC, now will include gatherings in people’s homes. (eg. Small groups, committee meetings, Bible studies, Badminton group, etc) because of difficulty in social distancing (2m). 2) The RCAC Sanctuary will still be open for quiet, individual prayer during regular worship times (Saturday & Sunday). Everyone who comes is encouraged to maintain a good social distance and stay only a maximum of 10 minutes if there are a lot of people. A pastor will be present, but will not approach individuals. Come into God’s presence and be comforted. This arrangement will be assessed weekly. 3) Church Office continues to be open from 10:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday. 4) Offering & Giving. Thank you to all who have expressed their desire to worship through offering. We know God will provide. We are currently working on setting up online giving. In the meantime, we encourage you to consider holding your giving until a future time, or, feel free to come by RCAC during office hours and drop it off. 5) Pastoral Staff. With the call to work from home when possible, our pastors will follow these advice from the authorities. Our pastors are urged to continue to shepherd our flocks using other means of communication. But at least one pastor will always be present at RCAC during the day. Weekly pastoral staff meetings will now be conducted via online video conference. 6) Need help or prayer? Or, do you know of someone who may need help? Know that all our pastors and our church leaders are prepared to help in whatever way possible. Know of an elderly person or neighbour who may need help with groceries? Know of individuals or families struggling financially? Please reach out to any pastoral staff. May Christ our Lord give you assurance of his presence, courage in the unknown, and strength in all circumstances. In Christ, Rev. Dr. Simon Lee
