The Quinte Playwrights’ Collective and River & Main Theatre Company ...announce the First Annual City of Belleville Play Writing Competition Submissions of original, un-produced plays of any length are now being accepted for the First Annual City of Belleville Play Writing Competition. In order to be considered, all plays must be of specific interest to a Belleville audience. They can be historical, contemporary or speculative, so long as they reflect some aspect of Belleville’s past, present or future (as determined by the jurors). Winning entries will receive a professionally produced staged reading in August 2020. 1st Prize: $250 2nd Prize: $150 3rd Prize: $100 Deadline: May 3, 2020 (Midnight EST) SUBMISSION RULES Each submission must be an original, un-produced play written in English All professional and non-professional playwrights are welcome to submit a maximum of two plays for consideration The playwright’s name must not appear anywhere on the manuscript On a separate page, please include the following information: o Title of the play o Playwright’s first and last name o Mailing address o Phone number o E-mail address Include a list of characters before the first page of dialogue. Characters’ names should be isolated from their dialogue in some manner Stage directions need to be clearly distinguishable from dialogue by the use of italics or other similar manner Scripts must be submitted in digital format, either PDF or MS Word. All other document formats will be rejected.
