Dave Kerneghan Memorial Award - Most Dedicated Player from Major Pee Wee - Minor Midget. Holden is a player who loves the game of hockey and always brings his passion to the rink, which is evident both on the ice and in our dressing room. His positive attitude and friendly smile are a few of his trademarks that are contagious with his teammates. Holden has shown his dedication to this team in a multitude of ways. On the ice, he gives his best effort every shift. His shifts ar...e normally 30 - 45 seconds in length and as intense as he is capable. He isn’t blessed with the greatest natural ability, yet his unrelenting work ethic has proven to be integral to his line-mates. He leads by example, never satisfied with a shift that is less than what his full potential can give his team. His unselfish, team-first attitude makes Holden a great team-mate amounts his peers and a great choice for this award.

Clara Thompson Memorial Award - Most Dedicated Player from Minor Atom - Minor Pee Wee. We are all dedicated to this game that we love so much. There is one player that exemplifies this dedication by hours of hard work and showing the drive to play at the AA level. ... He gave 100% effort during conditioning camps, off ice workouts, practices and of course the games. His dedication can be recognized in the four years he has been with the kings. Countless hours have been spent before and after games and practises well most of us were already at home relaxing, travelling excessively. Ben sometimes had to travel up to two or three hours just to be there, to be part of the team. His actions and his commitment to this team is what dedication can be defined as. Both he and his family can be relied upon to be there through adversity and at all costs - even if he has to get out of school early to make it happen!

Beattie Award - Player of the Year from Major Pee Wee - Minor Midget. This past season our team finished in the bottom of our division. Despite this, we were amongst the top teams in the league in goals for. Our team's MVP was a big contributor to this accomplishment, which was reflected in him finishing the season 2nd overall in the league with 50 points. This player holds extraordinary abilities when it comes to puck control, hockey sense, and in finding the back of the net... with the puck. Beyond his play on the ice, this young man always showed up to the rink early and ready to play, for both practices and games. His love of the game of hockey was evident, whether that being shown in rhyming off stats for the other teams, or simply in his showing up for league games dressed sharply with his signature bow-tie look. This year's RSL Major Bantam MVP is an incredibly gifted hockey player, a great young man, and I am sure has a bright future not just in hockey, but in all of his future endeavors. See more

Chris Thompson Memorial Award - Player of the Year from Minor Atom - Minor Pee Wee. Cam had an enormous impact on not only the success of the Minor Atom Kings but also on each player individually. His leadership on and off the ice guided 14 other players through their first year as Kings players. Cam led the team in scoring and was a spark when the team needed it. During off ice sessions he was an example of what you needed to do to improve as a player and in turn improve as ...a team. Due to Cams hard work, talent and leadership it was evident he was the Most Valuable Player on the Minor Atom Kings and was voted as such by his teammates. For the coaching staff, you knew what you were going to get from Cam during games, practices and off ice sessions and it was all going to be done with calm leadership and a positive attitude. For all of these reasons Cameron Kealey exemplifies Most Valuable to his team! See more

Mike Lalande Memorial Award - Goalie of the Year. Mike started playing hockey when he was 4 years old, and found his love for the net by the age of 5. He came to play with the Major Atom Kings at the age of 8/9, where he continued to play until he was in Major Bantam. Mike then went on to play for the Upper Canada Cyclones in Minor Midget, and was drafted to the Kanata Stallions at the age of 15. He played a few games with the South Grenville Rangers Jr. B Rangers before suf...fering an injury that ended his competitive career. Once healed, Mike was able to play pick-up hockey where he enjoyed playing just for the fun and love of the game. During his time with the King’s, Mike was constantly trying to improve his game by always practicing, taking part in every goalie clinic he could, as well as eventually playing hockey year-round. Back then everyone knew who Mike Lalande was. Therefore, in his honour the family have started the Outstanding Goalie Award. This award is for a goalie that is not only a team player on the ice, but off the ice as well; A goalie who shows great sportsmanship and has a smile on his face no matter if his team has won or lost; A goalie that’s constantly trying to improve his game and shows 110% dedication to his team. To a goalie who stands tall under pressure and encourages his team to keep going, just as Mike did. The coaching staff of the Major Bantams were all in agreement about submitting this young man's name for goalie of the year. This player has been an absolute pillar of our team on and off the ice since the very start of the season. This was demonstrated by the way he carried himself at practices, off-ice training session, and at games. In all of these places he carried himself with a great respect for himself, his teammates, his bench staff, and his opponents. This player was able to balance the great intensity of his play with incredible sportsmanship and kindness towards everyone else. This was evident whether we won or lost, and he would never waiver in his positive support of his team. His relentless pursuit of excellence was obvious with how hard he played, practiced, and in the training he would seek out beyond what he received with our team. This goalie would always stand tall under pressure, both figuratively and literally. There is little doubt that this young man will go on to do great things in hockey, and in life. Congratulations Bryce!

Tom Leeder award for Coach of the Year - The bench staff of the Minor Bantam AA team. The Tom Leeder award is presented annually to a coach of the Rideau St Lawrence Kings. Tom Leeder was a Brockville Minor Hockey and Brockville Tikis star who coached for the Rideau St Lawrence Kings in the early days of the organization. The family established the award in honour of Tom’s memory. The criteria for the coach of the year award should as closely as possible embody what Tom Leeder stood for. Tom loved the game of hockey; he showed great sportsmanship, was hard working and always demonstrated those qualities in a very quiet manner. Congratulations to the Minor Bantam AA Bench Staff.

The Ken Seymour Memorial Award Trainer of the Year - Bill Slattery. The Ken Seymour Memorial Award is to be presented to an individual in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the ideals of safety for all participants, enjoyment, fair play, sportsmanship, education and honesty in the game. The award has been established to honour a tremendous hockey person who was very involved and interested in minor hockey. When most think of a ‘hockey trainer’ they think of so...meone who shows up to the rink, steps on the bench and is prepared to help out those who may need it. In this case, on our team our trainer has that and MUCH MORE! Equipped with not only a First Aid Kit, but a toolbox on wheels that has everything that a player would need and more. From extra bolts and screws, to a variety of colors of tape ‘Wild Bill’ has it all! Our 07 group (and parents) refer to Bill as ‘Wild Bill’ as there is never a moment Bill isn’t racing to fill water bottles, tape the boys sticks before every game, make sure the music playlist is blaring in the dressing room or running around to locate a missing piece of equipment. Bill’s pace is as fast as his speech, his energy and passion is truly enjoyed by each and everyone of our players & parents. The boys know they can always rely on Bill for anything they need both at the rink and outside the hockey arena. We on the 07 team are convinced that Bill traded in his wife’s car and purchased a minivan just so that he could ensure that as many players as possible never miss those early 4:30 practices! During our first tournament Bill hit the road after our first game to find a stick locker for in the hallway so that the boys sticks were neatly lined up, taped and ready to grab before hitting the ice. Prior to games Bill can also be found leading warm up with the boys and let’s not forget joining in with the boys for they’re off ice sessions at Get Cronk’d. Bills dedication to the team is second to non, our 07 boys truly enjoy having Bill in the dressing room and on the bench. Whether it be dealing with a loss or celebrating a victory our boys know they can always count on ‘Wild Bill!’

Executive Award for Manager of the Year - Shaun Armitage Shaun is more than just a manager/trainer; he genuinely cares about the hockey club both personally and professionally. In addition to performing his tasks at the highest level, Shaun demonstrates commitment to the Kings organization as well. Not only does Shaun prepare, he organizes and schedules make up games, he then provides constant feedback to both parents and coaching staff. The quality of being a team player fit...s Shaun to a T he’s always willing to work closely with the players and the bench staff. Shaun collaborates with an open mind and always comes to the rink with a positive attitude. Shaun is invested in this team and wants everyone to succeed. One trait Shaun has is turning individual mistakes into lessons and their skills into strengths. Shaun encourages every player to do their best and rewards everyone for their hard work on and off the ice. He has all of his priorities in the right place which makes him very approachable and well liked among his peers. Congratulations Shaun!

Erin Lawless Memorial Award for Team of the Year. This trophy was dedicated in memory of Erin Lawless who passed away on September 12, 1991 at the age of 6 years from aplastic anemia while awaiting a bone marrow transplant. Erin was a grade one student at St Marks in Prescott. She loved school and all sports especially figure skating and attending her brother’s hockey games for the King’s association at that time. Erin was precocious, carefree, high-spirited little girl who h...ad a great zest for life. Always smiling and cheerful, Erin showed unbelievable strength, courage, dignity and a sense of humour through her illness. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Erin’s family has donated this memorial trophy to the Rideau St. Lawrence Kings Hockey Association for the Team of the Year to honour Erin’s memory and spirit. The team of the year chosen for the Erin Lawless Memorial Trophy is recognized for its integrity, sportsmanship, fair play and best represents the Kings organization both on and off the ice. Novice Program 2020 season. The Kings have been contacted about having a Novice team for the 2020/2021 Season. At this time we are looking to see if there is enough interest. In the past our Novice #'s have been low so it is necessary to find out who is interested in trying out to determine if we can have a team. ... A Tier 1 team must have 16 skaters and 2 goalies. Teams will travel inter-district where they will be divided into 2 teams to play half ice. Games will start at the end of October and run until the end of March. Practice time will be provided prior to games starting. All practices are with your own Novice Kings team, you will not sure the ice with anyone else. The program will run if Kings can get the following: 16 skaters + 2 goalies If the program does run we will be interviewing for Coaches like we do for all of our teams and there will be a tryout process, like all of our other teams. The cost is still to be determined but you can expect to pay a minimum of $1000.00 registration fee plus $500.00 fundraising fee. This is done throughout a payment plan and not due all at once. You will also be required to buy jerseys at a cost of $150.00. The jerseys are yours to keep until they no longer fit. Tryouts are at a cost of $175.00. If you sell all of your calendar lottery tickets then you can re-coup your fundraising fee. You can also obtain a sponsorship for your registration fees.
