Ridge Meadows Shotokan Karate 31.01.2021

In case you did not receive the email from Sensei Almond, here is a copy; Hello everyone, I think it would be safe to say that 2020 is ending as strangely as it began.... I know people want to get back to training and some places are going against the provincial health order and are training, but I would hate for one of you to get sick and it’s my fault for starting back to early (if one of you got really sick the fault would be too much for me). I believe my duty goes beyond simply teaching and must take into account the general wellbeing of the dojo. With this in mind I am I would like use December 9th as a potential start-up date as per Dr. Henry. The question of should masks being worn in class came back with three people saying no and 18 saying yes therefore we will try wearing them and see how it goes. As always I appreciate any thoughts or feedback. Stay Safe, Sensei Almond

I hope that everyone is staying safe and is doing well. This is a quick Dojo update and Sensei Almond will be sending out an email tomorrow. As it stands, the Dojo will be closed until Wednesday, December 9th. The Provincial government has suspended all athletic and group indoor activities until Midnight Monday December 7th. The government will be sitting shortly to vote on whether to rescind the restrictions, or to extend the restrictions. If they extend the restrictions..., then we will see what changes they come up with and how those changes will affect the Dojo. The Provincial Health Officer can also make emergency changes as she sees fit and those changes can, and do, happen regularly. There will be an update sent out as soon as we know that will be happening based on the new government information for Monday December 7th, and / or any emergency changes the Health Officer makes to the restrictions. Hi all, It has been pointed out that masks are now mandatory when indoors in public. Therefore a mask will be required as soon as you walk in the school until we start the bow in, by that time we will all be in our correct position for training and you can slip it off and put it into your gi if you would like. I do appreciate any and all feedback as we move through these interesting times so please forward any (relevant) thoughts you might have. Regards,... Sensei Almond

Good Morning, Hope this letter finds you and your family healthy. With the announcement from Dr. Henry that no contact soft training is allowed I will be opening the dojo again as of December 2, 2020. The classes will be white to purple 7:00 to 7: 40 and brown and black from 7:50 to 8:30 and it will now be suggested that you wear a mask from entering the building until you step out on the floor. You will not be allowed to train outside of your group so please no brown and b...lack in the first class with exception of myself and Sampai Mahlmann. Mr. Ivanov if you want Joseph to train with you in the second class that would be fine. It is of the utmost importance that we monitor ourselves and not come to the dojo if we are feeling even slightly unwell, have a cough or have a fever. You are responsible for your actions so please make socially correct decisions. Most people had already paid their November dues when we were closed down so those dues will be applied against December. Stay safe and let’s train, Sensei Almond

Sensei Almond sent out an email earlier today about the Dojo being closed for the next 2 weeks. That has now changed. We will be training on Monday and new social distancing rules will be in place. We will be splitting up the classes to create more space between everyone. White to Purple belts will be training from 7 to 7:40 Brown and Black belts will be training from 7:50 to 8:30... No brown and black belts are allowed to attend the first class We will are closed Wednesday for Remembrance Day. The new rules and training schedule will be in place for at least the next 2 weeks. We will post any changes and updates through either Facebook or through the email list or they will be announced during the classes. Thank you all very much for your patience through all of this.

This is an update from Sensei Almond; Hello again everyone; I’m sorry to say that we will in fact be closing Ridge Meadows Shotokan Karate for the next two weeks as per provincial guidelines, and hopefully be back on the 23rd of November. The information being given out at this time is not clear enough for me to say yes we will be open so I choose to err on the side of caution and not get fined. Stay tuned to your mail or FB for updating.... I do apologize for the confusion on this.

One quick update.... the doors to Colleen Findlay Place will be locked during both classes so that there will not be anyone in the building who should not be there. The doors will be locked during the class warm up, so you will be able to get into the Dojo if you are running a little late. The door will be unlocked around 7:35 / 7:40 for the Senior class.
