Our in-house "creative crafter" has produced another masterpiece! This one is dedicated to a group of musicians who call themselves "The Barnowls." Before Covid restrictions, The Barnowls would perform at Ridgewood once a month. Happy Holidays to all the boys from the group! Yesterday afternoon we did something different! Tattoos & Booze was a first for Ridgewood, and it was AMAZING! The room was FULL OF JOY! Laughing, squeals of amazement could be heard and hoots of congratulations for the brave who did something different! Giddy comments could be heard around the room! "How am I going to explain this one to my wife?!" or "To think, I always told my kids not to get a tattoo! Look at me now!" Residents sipped a mocktail as they chose their ink. O...ne resident followed the trend that after you get your first tattoo, you want more. By the end of the afternoon, she had FOUR and was pondering what her daughter would think of her choices? The ladies were cheering one of our more expressive gentlemen on, when he did a semi strip tease to allow for his choice of a mega tiger chest piece! Even the ones who chose not to participate enjoyed a drink and the atmosphere. We will definitely partake in another "Tattoos & Booze" afternoon! These photos show that it proves VERY difficult to get a room full of Bingo enthusiasts to do two things: A) wear a SANTA hat, (although in the end almost all of them wore them the entire hour!) and B) look at the camera in unison and SMILE! ... This last Bingo session before Christmas is usually hosted by Mrs. Claus, but that was not an option this year, so we improvised and still had a good time! Good Evening, An increase in the number of community based transmissions of COVID have led to today’s announcement of new public health measures. Effective immediately, we will cease all on site visits at Ridgewood. These are tough but necessary decisions. Decisions we hope will be temporary to reduce the community spread and keep Ridgewood residents and team members safe. We will continue to use our Nxtgen Care software solution to monitor all residents and team members, ...allowing us to quickly identify and isolate any potential infections. This will allow our residents to continue to live in our Ridgewood bubble, attending meals and activities together. Please know of my availability for questions and/or clarification. Good Afternoon, As follow up to yesterday’s correspondence, we have additional updates regarding off site visitation for residents and families. As cases of community transmission have been confirmed, we do not want to risk any potential exposure. Effective immediately, we have made the difficult decision to cease ALL off site community/family visits. The exception are essential medical appointments. On site visits will remain the same. The EXCEPTION for onsite visits If y...ou, or anyone with whom you have been in contact, has travelled to central zone (Halifax) or any of the known locations of outbreaks, and have been in these public spaces (exception is driving in your car through these locations), please DO NOT visit Ridgewood for at least 14 days after your potential exposure or confirmation of a negative COVID test. We hope this next wave will be short in duration. We will continue to do our part to implement necessary protocols and procedures to decrease exposure and maintain health and safety for all at Ridgewood. Please know of my availability for questions and or concerns.

Good Afternoon, Wow, it is hard to believe we are over half way into November! Good news is 2020 will soon be over, what a year it has been. As a province, and especially our zone (Western Zone for Ridgewood), we are doing incredibly well with COVID-19. However, even a minimal increase in cases creates a heightened awareness. We need to maintain our diligence, practices and protocol as directed by Public Health and Department of Health and Wellness. ... Our current visitations on and off site remain the same. We are monitoring COVID-19 cases very closely and may need to reinstate restrictions to keep everyone protected, safe and healthy. I will update all families immediately of any changes. As we watch the number of cases rise in Nova Scotia, we ask anyone who has traveled to central zone (Halifax) and any of the known locations of outbreaks, to please not visit Ridgewood or take a loved one out of Ridgewood for at least 14 days after your potential exposure. Great afternoon game of Hillbilly Golf! Each rung has their own point value. Everyone is always hoping to snag the Red Rung! We increase the distance when you are consistently getting all 3 tries on the red rung! There are always comments like, "Are you putting that in the next county??!!!"
