Once again, contrarian indicators have proved their metal. Strategies like "Don't don't fight the FED" and simple sentiment indicators would have guided one better through the short run of this pandemic. Another rule of thumb is that, stocks tend to rise during an election year...lots of fiscal stimulus, and optimism is predictable I guess. Another recent article pointed to the lack of correlation between economic growth GDP and stock market performance in the short run. Eve...n if you predicted GDP growth perfectly it would have had only marginal difference to stock portfolio performance vs. buy and hold! At the day, assets are always going to be valued against the potential of alternatives.
